The big problem right now is Western European governments are in the hands of the most bitter enemies their respective people's ever knew. The people will have to take control and vote the corrupt establishment out.

Japan could still launch some kamikazes in the last couple months of the war. That didn't change the fact that they were beaten. Their navy and merchant marine were gone. They were on the brink of mass starvation. Their largest 65 cities (other than Kyoto which we spared) had been largely burned to the ground. The only question was how many were going to have to die before they admitted the obvious.
