I’ve been pondering again

SO is a single board, a catch all. Here we have three boards. Dilutes things...
That’s a great point, I used to bookmark directly to one of the boards and never saw other posts. The forums landing page let’s you see any recent activity.

I have all 3 in by bookmarks bar. Works for me, but may not work for everyone, so I appreciate you pointing that out. CFB Home is strictly for sports, (not a lot going on with them right now) Water Cooler for OT, and The Pit of Misery for political shit, and if someone decides to bring back hot chick Friday it needs to be there. We all need to be mindful of what belongs where so that I never have to chat with valued posters such as Gentle Horse to keep them around...

I have to admit I'm too lazy to ready everyone else's responses so I am positive that others will have said some of the same things I am going to. But since you ask.

How much free time do you have to read a 20+ page thread? Seriously lol. I have generally the longer a thread go, the more it usually just comes down to two people trying to get the last word in an endless loop with someone occasionally jumping in to try to troll or zing someone.

1. It is the off season. This is a football board. And on top of that, with all the anxiety and shit happening in the real world, I wouldn't blame anyone for being to be busy or preoccupied to be on here right now.
2. There is no doubt this board is slower. That's alright. And there are a number of reasons. We have few users. And we aren't attached to a major vendor. I.e. Yahoo, Nexis, Oracle. We are a stand alone board generally made up of people that came here because of administration at said previous vendor board ;) Also boards like this will continue to decline to some amount. When you have places like social media and reddit.
3. I hadn't noticed that. But I don't really get into the politics of this board. After dealing with them for years at the previous board there is such a warm fuzzy feeling in just coming here and talking to people I consider friends about any number of topics. I will leave it to the cat herders for administrating the board. I know and trust every one of them. And have been lucky to moderate with more than 1 of them in the past. I will stand for their character and decision any day of the week. Twice on Saturday ;)
4. I would say there are two reasons for this. First of all the majority of the people on this board again came from a administrative decision of a previous board, and in that base decision no females were part of it that I can remember (yes some like BG did suicide by mod after). And second there wasn't that many women on the other board before we came to this one. I mean of the hundreds of posters I met over there I would say maybe 2 dozen or so were females that posted with any regularity.
5. We still talk. But many of us have close associations with one another. So I text, message some of the people here or talk to them outside of here say on facebook. I can't imagine I am the only one. Also many of us are friends in real life and will call one another or travel to their homes. My guess would be if this was a normal football season without Covid going on, we would see more traffic here. Though still not as much as on SO.

The one last thing I would say on this. Every board is different. And I value this board not being like another one, say Sound Off, or any other. When I was on Sound Off I preferred it to be singular as well. There is no fun in a board just being a carbon copy of another. And I have to admit I don't really go over there. The last time I did was months ago when someone sent me a link about my name coming up over there. And the one thing I noticed that was vastly different was the sheer amount of politics that is on that board now. Compared to it being football based. Which blew my mind. But hey, there is new sheriffs in town and that is how they have chosen to marshal their board. And that's cool. I have no hard feelings against any mod there and still hopefully they consider me a friend. I would say in an election year and as political as our country is, I can more than understand a poster from here going there to be part of that conversation.

Sorry for being long winded. Sitting here at the dentist office waiting on my wife to get done so had plenty of time to type ;)
ZING!

Most days I do nothing more than say good morning in the coffee thread,, the rest of the day, I'm either working, doing something in the yard, or watching tv.. I have few interest, College Football, Cooking/Grilling/Smoking, Drinking (Sometimes), and good Jokes/Meme's/Gifs that make me laugh..
I would miss this place if it was gone.

I voter No. I like it the way it is. Separate things so that folks can opt out. Sad thing is that this was born into a pandemic. It will continue to grow, but slower than it should...

Totally agree. Just need spots to recruit new members

I like this board, but still post mostly on SO. I stop in every once in a while and drop a few likes, but it’s rare these days that I find a thread that I want to get in on. I always used SO mostly as a source for cfb info, and stuck around for a lot of the off topic stuff. I don’t scour the internet for inside info, and I certainly don’t stalk players and recruits on twitter. Between SO and here, there’s more than enough cfb knowledge for me to digest. I’d probably come by more often if there was more sports related stuff going on, but there really aren’t any Texas fans in here, so most Texas related stuff in here is coming from those filthy sooners (not that SO is any different in that regard).

I like the “ask me almost anything” threads. That was a great idea. Other than the first one, I’ve missed them all. I need to check more often so I know when they are. I do think that this place would liven up if you got a few more trolls in here, but I understand that that’s what you all wanted to avoid in the first place.

Thanks for trying so adequately to grace us with your presence. Maybe if you tried hard like me we'd be much happier with your contributions.

Nothing wrong with being a creature of habit. Those of us here don't have that option or we would probably agree with you completely. It's still good to see you around. We have a good place here that we call home.

I will give you credit for trying to keep things interesting around here, but most of your threads suck.

@tinp
Ftr, your threads would actually get some traction on rivals, so it’s not so much that they suck, they just suck here.
