Lanning's name is floating around in a lot of places and has been for a couple of years. He's absolutely solid as a coach and as a recruiter. No offense, but Louisville isn't on his radar as far as a destination for his first HC opportunity. Frankly, I think Satterfield is the best that Louisville can get. I watched what he done at AppSt. He's one helluva HC. Maybe you guys should take a story out of UK's playbook and keep a coach long enough for him to get your team where you would like them to be like they did with Stoops.

I don't mean to be rude, but Louisville ain't all that. You can be, but you have to build a long term foundation to get there. Satterfield is what you need whether he's what you want or not.

Just my opinion.
 
Lanning would be an excellent hire for UL. I dont know him enough to know what he is looking for in a HC opportunity though. Hes a very good, young coach. He's energetic and connects with kids very well. Hell of a recruiter to boot.

Like many coaches it would come down to his staff. He would need a veteran OC to help him get himself settled similar to Kirby and Chaney.

I hope he hangs around Athens a while longer but know that isnt a likely scenario. UL could do much worse and so could Lanning.
