Actually the only time I did some shifts there was during the Achille Lauro hijacking. When Delta Force came aboard, I was involved in the planning to take the ship. I had a midrats pass for about a week.

All my certificates I got from the Navy (Shellback, Order of the Rock for going thru the straits of Gibralter, Order of the Ditch for the Suez) were all huge parchment type paper and very artful. Then the Bluenose was on like an 8 1/2x11 paper and looked cheesy lol

Our "ceremony" was putting on a black tie (boot lace tied around our necks) and PT shorts and boots and that's all....running across the flight deck while they hosed us down with sea water and then running to a guy who slapped blue paint/dye on our noses. Took all of 5 mins or less.......
