LSU hires Brian Kelly?

Do you think ND would make the playoff over Okie St? Maybe they both do if Michigan and Cinci lose? Either way, I don't really get the move for Kelly. He's jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire going to the SEC West. Leaving the team that wears the golden slipper to just another power player in the West. Don't get it, but good for him cause he gonna get paid I guess.
No, but it's a good chance, depending on how the chips fall Saturday. But hey, no CCG for them, they're independent. Liked LSU, not a fan of ND, but with this move LSU and Kelly deserve to burn in CFB hell wrapped in each other's arms...

That I agree with.

Stray thought, what if a team fires its coach like LSU did to Orgeron or Helton and the entire team enters the transfer portal? Probably not gonna happen, but thought intrigues me. Takes the power away from the rich boosters...

That would be crazy. Especially if they did it in the middle of the season.....

The one good thing so far is that no one has jumped ship in recruiting. I was worried about that when I went to bed last night. I am pretty sure they are waiting to see who gets hires. If it is Freeman, I think we are just fine. Or if they name Freeman as the coach in waiting or interim whatever, and then hold out for their guy like Fickell. But if they make a reaction hire like they did with Willingham and Weis then all bets off. And ND goes back to 8-4 seasons.

A lot of smoke out there about it being Freeman. Tons of tweets and misinformation of course. Hard to sort through all the BS and coach speak for the truth.

Will be an interesting week.

@Proud_Okie who do you think has a perm hire first? ND or Oklahoma.

Wouldn't surprise me if they both already have their guy and they are just ironing out the details. There was sure a LOT of smoke yesterday about Venables being the guy at OU. With the carnage that piece of shit left behind, OU needs to have a new coach signed quickly. ND situation seems to be a little more calm from an outside perspective.

I think the difference is with ND. As non BK of a guy as I am. He always recruited to the school and not to the guy. So it wasn't 'come play for BK'. It was about being at ND, and their thing of always saying 'it is a 40 year decision'. And most of the best recruiting in this class is on the defensive side of the ball. Freeman came in and I mean SUPER CHARGED the defensive recruiting like I haven't seen since Holtz. And there is a ton of smoke about him possibly being the guy. So that will help.

Whereas with Oklahoma, Riley was the name, the face, the recruiting, everything. So you lose that chess piece and everything falls.

ND is going to lose recruits no matter what. That comes with it. But personally I would still rather have a bad recruiting year and a solid head coach, than the other way around. Willingham and Weis were both panic buys. And you see how they worked out. The ND AD come out today and specifically stated there will not be an interim HC. Which tells me, it is 1 of 3 names. Bhrom, Freeman, or Fickell. And I am good with any of them.

Exactly. That piece of shit sold himself and his "offensive genius." Fuck him.

He would be an idiot to not reach out. The hottest DC in the country currently. Which even he said earlier this year that the next HC is already on staff. And as much of a critic as I was about Tommy as a player, I think he has done a pretty good job as an OC when considering the issues he has had to work through with Kelly as his boss.

Personally with time thought about it, I would take Freeman as the HC, because I think any other single move and you lose Freeman. And he right now is what is holding together the recruiting and is the best and highest paid DC in the country. Give him his chance.

To go with that. You have to keep coaches: Taylor, Rees, Balis, Elston. After that you can go shopping for your staff.
