The grandfather of the dawgs QB was Richard "Buddy" Bennett. He was QB for the Gamecocks in 1959, averaging 5 yards a carry. He helped the Gamecocks beat the Fran Tarkenton led dawgs to their only loss of the season, this denying the dawgs a shot at the championship.
