The grandfather of the dawgs QB was Richard "Buddy" Bennett. He was QB for the Gamecocks in 1959, averaging 5 yards a carry. He helped the Gamecocks beat the Fran Tarkenton led dawgs to their only loss of the season, this denying the dawgs a shot at the championship.
Bad karma in the air, me thinks.

Different era… most teams ran the wing T, or variations of the triple option. Passing QB’s were the exception not the rule.

Point is his grandfather stole a championship from the dawgs. A grandson may follow family tradition and disappoint dawgs with coming up short (not intentionally, but bad karma, like being related to "Hope"
