INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — NCAA member schools voted to ratify a new, streamlined constitution Thursday, paving the way for a decentralized approach to governing college sports that will hand more power to schools and conferences.

The vote was overwhelmingly in favor, 801-195, and was the main order of business at the NCAA’s annual convention. NCAA President Mark Emmert, in his state of college sports address — delivered via video conference to a convention ballroom because he is currently in COVID-19 protocols, called the new constitution more of a “declaration of independence.”

Well, Emmert is a total waste of sperm, so can't really blame them. Besides, this seems like the start of what has been talked about for a while now. The super conference model that breaks away from the NCAA......

Damn shame the states haven't pulled this off against our federal government, but I digress. More power to schools and conferences is a must, IMO. The structure of the game is so different in different regions of our country that it's inevitably better for the control to be at the local and regional level. When I say "structure", I mean the development of players from grade school up, the popularity and support of the game from grade school up.

Too late for that now because the fed controls so much of the money........ We do have some states that are flexing though and it's not hurting them.
