***Mod Edit*** This will be in the CFBhome forum due to the massive realignment implications. Treat it more like a CFB thread than a Pit thread guys. This is big news and could also dissolve the NCAA

So let me get this straight...

- First, the NCAA walks away from this decision, putting it into the hands of individual sports governing bodies, in this case, USA Swimming.

- USA Swimming made the hard choice and created rules which would evaluate each trans swimmer on an individual basis to determine eligibility. This would have more or less ensured that Thomas was not eligible, not should 'she' be.

- After all that, the NCAA pulls back and say that they won't use the USA Swimming guildelines, and that Thomas WILL be eligible.

What a fucking shitshow. I just feel sorry for the women. They were offered a light at the end of the tunnel and then hit by the fucking train. 16 of his teammates have come out against him. He was the 485th ranked male swimmer, now he is the 1st ranked female swimmer.

USA Swimming, the national governing body for competitive swimming in the United States, then changed its policy earlier this month for transgender athletes competing in events. The new policy must be adopted by the NCAA, and includes additional requirements for swimmers who transition from male to female.

The concentration of testosterone in a transgender female swimmer's blood must be less than five nanomoles per liter continuously for at least three years before she can compete. Additionally, a panel of three independent medical experts must determine whether a swimmer's prior development as a man gives her an advantage over her cisgender competitors.

A group from her team (16 girls) wrote in an anonymous letter that Thomas has "an unfair advantage" over the competition and asked Penn not to challenge the NCAA's new policy on transgender athletes. Another set of teammates (4 girls) released an unsigned letter in "full support" of Thomas.

When will this shitshow be over???

Let’s get this out of the way, because some readers will argue we are calling Lia Thomas a doper – regardless of the information presented and the selected verbiage. That is not the case. There is no intent. What we are stating is this: The effects of being born a biological male, as they relate to the sport of swimming, offer Thomas a clear-cut edge over the biological females against whom she is competing. She is stronger. It is that simple. And this strength is beneficial to her stroke, on turns and to her endurance. Doping has the same effect.

According to NCAA rules, Thomas has met expectations for participation. But for Thomas to suggest she does not have a significant advantage, as she did in one interview, is preposterous at best, and denial at worst. It is on the NCAA to adjust its bylaws in the name of fair competition for the thousands of swimmers who compete at the collegiate level. It is also on Thomas to acknowledge her edge. The suppressants she has taken account for an approximate 2% to 3% change. The time difference between male and female swimming records is roughly 11%.

Providing Thomas with an opportunity to exhibition and record times while in peak condition would be a suitable decision by the NCAA. Inclusion for Thomas is necessary – in some form. However, allowing her to register times against athletes who are at an undeniable disadvantage would not be acceptable.

It’ll be over when people push back with violence, and when the jackboots of the left go to arrest others step between and say, “No.”.

Welcome to the new football conferences bois.

I was waiting for this. Regardless how you feel, this is going to drastically shake up football too.

The next shakeup will be based on politics.

Question is, does the ACC join the Big XII and SEC or does it align with the B1G and PAC?

I think the Big XII picks up Nebraska, Utah, Iowa, Arizona and Arizona State along with the possibility of Notre Dame unless the ACC stays with us.

It's gonna be interesting

from what i understand,
this dude still has a penis -
as long as this condition persists,
i cant see any arguement for callin this dude
a she,
regardless of your position on transsexuality -

Completely has not transitioned at all outside of reversible hormone blocking medicines.

The teammates have talked about being uncomfortable with Lia walking around ass naked in the locker room.

The Big XII just got absolutely saved by the political machinations of this country. We are gonna be taking away some of the PACs oldest members and a younger one too. Feels good

Unfortunately the libs that run the University of Iowa would fit right in out in San Fran. 😢

I don't know. At the end of the day, these are state funded schools. I don't think Iowa is as woke as a state as the heads of the university are.
Very true. If you look at our state government right now it is republican run, governor "she's a good one" , senate, and house, and will probably stay that way through the next election cycle.

That's where I'm going with this. The next realignment cycle will be forced by governments and private schools will be the only ones to escape that.

The Notre Dames of the world are going to be hunting for conferences soon where this isn't the rule.

The NCAA will fracture, the North and West will still probably follow NCAA rules while the SEC, Big XII and those who join will start their own recognized conferences.

I expect to see a few FCS jumps like NDSU. They just declined the CUSA which makes me think they are eyeballing further past this.

I've been patiently waiting for this ruling because the impact it will have will be absolutely nuts (unintended pun).

The Zona legislature won't take that well. They will bail on the PAC in a heartbeat. That's a very conservative state. Colorado is a toss up. The south half is very conservative while the metros are liberal.

Iowa is a bastion of Red in the upper Midwest, they definitely will bail by restructuring time of the B1G stays this course too.
