They are conditioning us to think as they want us to. Have been for years, they are just more emboldened now. We are at the "2 legs good, 4 legs bad" section of Animal Farm.
Governments are using social media to do things their constitutions/charters wont allow them to do themselves.

I was a scout too. Adhere to the motto. Yet I go unarmed. I’m torn. I…I’ve always felt no need for firearm, God having given me muscle, speed, teeth, brains, fists. And I collected (and know how to use) swords (and other weapons). I always thought any bastard what wants take from me my everlasting gonna risk tasting my sharp cold steel. But, I’m growing older now, and have others I gotta protect. Can’t lie, I ain’t got shit for brains for firearms. Guess I gotta learn.

A firearm will greatly improve your reach. As a single man, if you want to fight in close quarters - that's your prerogative. As the head of your household - wife and child depend upon you to protect them. Close quarter combat is not the best decision at this time in your life.
