*°* Week 1 CFB Thread *°*

That's what happens when you have the worst qb in fbs and you don't address it in the portal. From what I heard on the radio he missed wide open receiver's regularly. Oh and the coaches refusal to pull him and try the back up who has won games last year is plain dumb. You all have to realize that ferentz, when he says someone is starting, they are starting. It dosen't matter what they do. If they have that deer in the head lights look, dosen't matter. They are playing and nothing will change his mind short of a broken leg. Iowa has been through this before with other qbs. Backups being clearly better than the starter, but it dosen't matter in his mind. He dosen't want the qb to take any risk. He wants a game manager. Run the clock, rely on the defense, and burn clock. It's to sexy to have a qb that runs 5 second 40. Iowa's probably runs an 8 second 40.
Is it really that bad with the coaching? Good grief.

Remember Ferentz's son is the oc and qb coach. Before Iowa, he had been on staff for new England under belicheck as a tight end coach. Supposedly there were a lot of applicants for the oc job here when it came up. Brian was here already as a oline coach I believe and he gets the job. He's never run any kind of offense at any level till here. Nepotism.

Might be biased, but am I wrong to say Ohio State and Notre Dame seem a tad overrated? Feel like Alabama and Georgia are so much better fundamentally than both. Looks like another year where there are 2 top teams and then another tier of really good teams below those 2 that would have OSU, ND, and etc.
It's why a lot of people don't get wound up over pre season ranking.

Thanks for the shout out, but UGA has a lot to do before they can be compared to Bama. If you don't believe me, ask a Bama fan.

My Gamecocks defeated Georgia State 35 - 14. Spencer made some really nice throws and also made some mistakes while our special teams was outstanding and scored as well.

Not a blow out but a win is a win.

Same here. A win is a win. I didnt watch the game, but I saw Rattler's stats, not that great, but it takes more than just a QB to roll out an offense.
Our Oline sucked mostly. Running game practically non-existent, without having C-Rod. Although we have Levis and some vets, it seems like we are in a re-building year with all the new faces (impressive for freshman), if that makes any sense for a UK football team. The swamp next week is not looking good for us if we dont clean up some things.

Well you know what they say "A team will make the most improvement from week 1 to week 2" and you guys have a proven coaching staff. Would not surprise me at all if y'all look much better next week. I am hoping for the same for my Gamecocks since we have Arky next week. I will actually be on the road as I have to visit my oldest brother who is in the hospital in Melbourne Fl, so I am hoping I can find it on the radio on the way down there.

And hope your brother improves. Prayers.

I would say you are biased due to what team you root for.

It is the first game of the season, give it a few to see who is over rated or not of the two.

The offense, played below my expectations but defense did better than expectations.

I wish the best of luck to Freeman and ND the rest of the year.
