Let’s face it, college football today is not the college football of yesterday. So, is it time to dump the part time weekend ref/full time real estate agent, and start going the professional ref route like the NFL.

College football has become a billionaire dollar business and is growing. Why do we continue to use regional part time refs?

Maybe it’s not feasible. There are only 32 NFL teams with refs making $200,000 + a year.

Just throwing it out there. I can see USC/ ucla getting screwed by PAC refs in a close game in the next couple of seasons because they are leaving the PAC.

I had the same concerns officiating has only become worse in college football PAC refs are already the worst imo. The thought of backlash from SC moving to the B1G has crossed my mind.

That said I was happy to see Riley throw the challenge flag on the PI call and win the challenge. You can’t have PI on a tipped ball. Hoping that was to set the tone. But it’s good to see a coach that doesn’t just sit there with a blank look on his face. I would be all for pro refs/ refs without conference affiliations or at the least fines and suspensions. No more sorry we got it wrong after the games with a small slap on the wrist. Or ignoring it all together. Rules analysts can just go altogether they’re just annoying and useless.

NFL refs aren’t full time either. It’s really hard to officiate football. And it’s a thankless job.
