Find a local CSA, buy direct from local farmers, farmers markets and farmer coops. Globalization of our food was a purposeful step to control us.

I think it's funny when high end dog food commercials say our dog food only contains meat and vegetables, and no corn. I just laugh. My dogs love ground corn. When I feed calves twice a day my 2 dogs are there eating ground corn out of the bucket. Oh and I've never seen them go eat insects. On occasion they will snap at a fly being a pest but you don't see them hunting grass hoppers or ants.
