They use vague language because they know it confuses people. Language like "assault weapon", "high capacity magazine", "fully semi-automatic", etc. In this case it's "universal background checks". You cannot buy a gun from a licensed dealer without filling out a form 4473. In some states you can't even gift a gun to a friend or relative without going through the 4473 process at a licensed gun dealer.

In the vast majority of cases - gun violence is perpetrated outside of gun laws (not to mention that shooting people and murder are illegal as well) - meaning that gun laws were broken to commit these crimes. We don't need more laws, we don't need more restrictions, we don't need more "lists" - we need to enforce our existing laws. Shall not be infringed....
