We shouldn’t forget. It pained me neither my wife nor anyone working under me knew what today was.
Any of you old timers want to weigh in, I love hearing anyone/everyone’s perspective as I wasn’t around back then.

31 years ago today my grandmother, the woman who raised me, passed away quietly in the living room of the house she built.

I was in the 5th grade. Teacher got called out and came back in, leaned against her desk and said the president has been shot.
I'm like, so what. I didn't know squat about politics and it meant nothing to me. Thing is, when I saw LBJ getting sworn in as president I remember seeing him on the tube and something inside of me shuddered. Didn't like the look of him.

My mother has told me she remembers watching him be shot. She said her class in school was watching the parade live.
I remember watching the challenger disaster while watching it in school, I remember a girl in class asking if they would be alright, and my teacher saying "no they are dead" and shutting it off.

She was the strongest and most loving woman I've ever known in my life. There's nothing I wouldn't give to spend another minute with her. I miss her.
