USC giving ND bulletin board material

I don’t think it’s even going to be close. Last year we surprised you and everyone else coming out of the gate throwing, but after half time adjustments the game went according to plan.

This year you know what our cards our, don’t see any surprises there.

I am actually more worried about this year than last.

I dont think Daniel's is as good as advertised. He is a decent QB. But he isnt the next Watson or Manning that people tried to hype him as coming out of HS.

The only positive that USC has is that ND secondary hasnt seen this level of talent all year. And they have been beat a few times in passing. Both Virginia and Georgia got some great chunk plays against a very talented but still somewhat green secondary. The starters back there are top 20 caliber. But the depth there isnt even close.

The only thing that scares me is the first quarter. ND under Kelly has always been a bend dont break until you can scheme against it defense.

They seem to always need longer than they should to recalibrate to the game being played. See Virginia this year and countless opponents in previous years. Hopefully the warm up game last week gave them confidence to attack early in this one

Kinda hard to gauge Daniels yet. He actually looked really good. Before leaving the Fresno State game with a season ending injury. Not a big enough sample size last season. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery and is able to bounce back from surgery.

SC’s defense has shown glimpses. But Helton has been restricting Pendergast. Not nearly as many blitz and pressure packages. Very vanilla on D this year. D line and LB’s shined at times. Secondary has been playing with too much cushion. And the LB’s too far off the line imo. Hoping Hufanga is available his presence was visibly missed against Washington.

Haven’t looked to see if Slivis is well enough to start after the head injury. Or if Fink will be playing again . Could have used Sears but he jumped into the portal.

Not fond of the offense it’s a bit one dimensional. SC isn’t utilizing their RB’s. Especially Stepp who should be getting much more reps. SC’s WR’s have been keeping them afloat.

Expecting the worst if they want a chance. SC will need some big plays out of Pittman , St Brown and Vaughn’s

Stepp made his bed. He was a solid ND for a while before flipping to USC. So I he doesn’t get a chance to shine. That’s on him. Not that Kelly is a dream coach to play for. But coming out of HS ND was a much better fit for him than USC was going to be.

St Brown I wish we would have got. I think he is at least as good as his brother was. And does a great job running routes and blocking when needed.

If ND has a weakness on defense it is in the secondary. So it will be interesting to see what ND can do to slow down the attack.

Looks pretty bleak but hoping for a good game. Fight On \/ sheepdog!!!

Fight on ghost. Good to have another SC fan on board. You are are dialed in with your assessment.

Good fans on this board. They’ll give you shit whether it’s deserved or not, but will come to your aid in real life if shit ever hits you.

Another good one is @CainSC.

Stepp made the right move flipping at the time imo. Stepp flipped while SC was running their traditional system. Before they went “air raid”. Factor in Rojo declaring for the draft early. Stepp’s skill set puts him in position to put up big numbers at SC.

Tbh Stepp was the most explosive back during camps in the air raid. Problem is the coaching staff is running Valve much more than they should. Even with the backs limited in this new system I’m not a fan of. Stepp should be getting far more touches than he has imo.

St Brown is a hell of a talent. Would like to see SC get him out of the slit. And rotate him outside a little more than they do tho. Always look forward to this game and the tradition. Even in down years for either side. Here’s to hopefully a good game sir.

Chip Long loves the power running game. And Kelly has always been a fan of fast RB. Stepp I think would have seen a lot more field time even if USC would have stayed. Right now ND is RB by committee because they don’t have that every down back.

And this is always a great game. And right now it is 42 degrees out with 10+ mph gusts that will get bigger this evening. Kickoff should be just about the same temp. Once the sun is down will feel like low 40s high 30s for the game

I keep promising myself to make it to this game in October, and eventually will. As for today I will enjoy the 82 degree kick off time weather here.
Cheers to a good game.

Stepp should be getting the ball a lot more. I like the kid.

Have a USC friend of mine I went to breakfast with today. Was complaining about how the team was functioning this year. Told him now he knows what it felt like having Charlie as a HC.

Plenty of talent, dumb defense that can’t stop anything. And an offensive mindset that if you score so much and so often the opponent can’t keep up.

He apologized for all those years and what USC did to ND lol.
