We've made it through the September portion of the College Football schedule (well, there are a handful of non-FBS games today). MLB's regular season is wrapping up. The WNBA Playoffs are underway. NFL things are happening of course. Racing whatnots. North Carolina continues to dominate in Field Hockey. And so on.

College Football

Army and Navy are still undefeated.

Friday Night proved eventful for yet another week as Miami-FL survived a scare from Virginia Tech and Rutgers held off Washington.

Texas remains undefeated, but may not have the 1 next to their name later today.

Alabama beat Georgia in one of the darndest games this season and may get the 1 next to their name later today.

Kentucky beat Mississippi on the road.

Penn State slowly pulled away from Illinois.

Utah lost at home to Arizona.

Michigan held off a Minnesota rally.

Boise State might make the CFP.

UNLV's quarterback left for NIL reasons so they plugged their backup in and beat Fresno State.

Duke took the Victory Bell from North Carolina and is 5-0.

Colorado might actually be good.

Florida State might actually not be good.

Texas Tech is weirdly entertaining.

New Mexico beat NM State on the road to finally get a win.

Liberty at App State was canceled in the wake of Helene's damage.

PVAMU beat Grambling in a game that took 5 overtimes.

UNC Pembroke is still winless. Dang it.

NFL

The Panthers actually won a game.

The Bills, Steelers, Chiefs, Vikings, and Seahawks are currently undefeated.

MLB

The Yankees, Orioles, Guardians, Tigers, Royals, and Astros are all in on the AL side.

The Phillies, Brewers, Dodgers, and Padres are all in on the NL side with the Braves, Mets, and Diamondbacks playing musical chairs for the last 2 spots.

The White Sox were really, really, maybe historically bad this year.

WNBA

The Quarterfinals were all sweeps with Liberty beating the Dream, the Aces beating the Storm, the Sun beating the Fever, and the Lynx beating the Mercury.

Caitlin Clark spoke out against trolls to end her season.

The Semifinals are Aces vs Liberty in a rematch of last year's Finals and the Sun vs Lynx in what is essentially the other series.

Phee Collier may be the best player at this moment.

The Sparks don't want Curt Miller anymore and the Sky fired Teresa Weatherspoon after only 1 season in which she inherited a mess.

NWSL

The Orlando Pride are still undefeated with only 4 matches left.

MLS

Charlotte FC might make the Playoffs.

NASCAR

The Cup Round of 12 starts today with defending Champion Ryan Blaney still in the mix.

There's 1 race left in the ARCA season with Andres Perez holding a 53 point lead over Lavar Scott for the Championship and Toni Breidinger still in the Top 5.

Questions for the Experts Here

Did Tennessee not going ahead with the Greg Schiano hire ultimately work out for both sides?

Miami-FL win, Virginia Tech loss, or ACC Wheel of Destiny officiating?

On a scale of 1 to Sun's Core, how hot is Mike Norvell's seat?

Are the Carolina Panthers starting to figure out how to football now that they've made the quarterback change?

How blessed are the Kansas City Chiefs?

Is this the Cleveland Guardians year?

Do the Liberty finally solve the Aces Playoff problem?

Was it too soon for the Sky to ditch Coach Weatherspoon?

Your thoughts on these and whatever other sports things! Happy Sunday and for everyone in areas affected by Helene, please be safe.

Just glad to be mentioned.

Parity is WILD: Across multiple leagues, things are incredibly competitive. Undefeated teams are rare, and upsets are frequent. It's a great time to be a sports fan.
NIL Impact: The UNLV QB situation is a stark reminder of the power (and potential disruption) of NIL.
Coaching Carousel Already Spinning: The WNBA firings are early, but show how quickly things can turn in professional women's basketball. Was it too soon for the Sky to ditch Coach Weatherspoon? Probably. One year is rarely enough to turn around a struggling franchise, especially when inheriting a mess. However, the Sky clearly felt a change was needed, and they have the right to make that decision. It's a risky move, but it could pay off if they find the right coach.

Busy sports slate, so here’s a straight take on your “expert questions”:
  • Tennessee / Greg Schiano: Not hiring him ended up fine for Tennessee (they’ve had competitive peaks since), and Schiano actually rebuilt Rutgers into a respectable program. So it worked out for both in different ways.
  • Miami vs VT / ACC chaos: That’s just classic ACC football—Miami survival games are basically a weekly subscription service at this point.
  • Mike Norvell seat heat: “Warm but not burning yet.” If Florida State keeps underperforming expectations, it moves quickly toward “hot.”
  • Panthers QB change: They look slightly more functional, but that’s still “step 1 of rebuilding football competence,” not a full fix.
  • Chiefs “blessed”: Extremely. Good coaching + elite QB stability = they can survive almost anything.
  • Guardians year? They’re always scrappy, but they usually need elite pitching + hot hitting at the right time. Feels more “dangerous” than favorite.
  • Liberty vs Aces: Liberty have the talent, but the Aces’ playoff experience edge is real. That matchup usually comes down to execution under pressure.
  • Sky firing Weatherspoon: Feels premature given she inherited a mess. That roster needed time more than a reset.
