US to issue visa bans for foreign nationals who 'censor' Americans, Rubio says US to issue visa bans for foreign nationals who 'censor' Americans, Rubio says
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The United States will impose visa bans on foreign nationals it deems to be censoring Americans, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Wednesday, unveiling a new policy Rubio suggested could target officials regulating U.S. tech companies.

Rubio said in a statement that a new visa restriction policy would apply to foreign nationals responsible for censorship of protected expression in the United States and said it was unacceptable for foreign officials to issue or threaten arrest warrants for social media posts made on U.S. soil.
"It is similarly unacceptable for foreign officials to demand that American tech platforms adopt global content moderation policies or engage in censorship activity that reaches beyond their authority and into the United States," Rubio said.

Rubio's statement did not name specific countries or individuals that would be targeted, but noted that some foreign officials have taken "flagrant censorship actions against U.S. tech companies and U.S. citizens and residents when they have no authority to do so."

A shootout between illegal migrants at an asylum center near Sarajevo in Bosnia has left 6 men in hospital. The wounded are 5 men from Afghanistan and 1 man from Pakistan.

It’s just the latest of a string of violent incidents caused by feuding crime gangs in the migrant camps in Bosnia.

Some of the participants in the shooting are suspected members of an Afghan criminal group known as BWK.

BWK rose to prominence in 2023 and has controlled many of the migrant smuggling routes in Bosnia’s border areas for more than a year.

According to the police, the smuggling gangs have embraced more violence in recent months. adding theft, kidnapping and extortion to their activities.

This is the second shooting in less than a week in the refugee camp at Blazuj.

On May 21st, a clash between two unidentified Afghan gangs resulted in 50 bullets being fired without anyone being injured.

At least 5 shooting incidents, in Sarajevo and at reception centres in Bihac in northwest Bosnia, have taken place since the start of the month.

JUST IN: The Trump administration has fired over 100,000 federal employees and is sending out new "merit-based" guidelines for hiring new federal employees.

The Merit Hiring Plan was sent to agencies earlier today and it overhauls the previous hiring methods by telling agencies not to take race and gender into consideration when hiring.
