So. Tua to the draft

I honestly would not draft the kid. Great talent but if he can not make it through 12 games healthy he sure as hell aint making it through 16. Honestly how many games in a row has the kid played? He might have 18-20 games of film in 3 seasons.

I don't think the draft round has a lot to do with them going broke but that's neither here nor there. Hope the kid beats the odds
Yea I mean having less money to start would certainly be a factor to guys going broke within 5 years. Getting drafted outside the first 2 rounds is not some massive payday and there a lot of hands in the cookie jar managers, agents, hangers on etc.

Even if one gets a million dollar signing bonus. By the time taxes, managers agents etc get there cut the guy gets about 1/3 of the bonus in his account. So say 350 400g.... That is not life changing money in many of the cities they are drafted in to. Hell In NYC or San Fran ya might be just above middle class.... but guys do think they are rich but in reality they are only doing OK and thier careers are often quite short. Most never make it a second contract and are cut by year 3.

Crazy stat I saw the other day. Something like 40% of guys on NFL rosters now are undrafted. (now that did not say if it included practice squads etc) but that is wild to me.

This is why I like CFB. About 98% of the players don't stand a chance at NFL money. They play for love of the game and work to make sure they get their degree. CFB would be better off if the NFL folded and ceased to exist.

College football would be better if like the old days they were all required to play 4 years before they can be drafted and if the the transfer portal did not exist.

Then again I am all for guys getting paid as soon as they can and having the freedom to transfer to the best situation for them.

The game was much better to watch as a fan before guys jumping to the NFL early transferring in and out and sitting out bowl games no doubt.

True. I don't think many of those guy's are prepared to to deal with monies they are not use to commanding. There's a vulture in every tree ready to feed on them
