Bezos Increases his wealth by $13 Billion in 15 minutes

Who says the law is be all end all? There's a reason why we have amended many different laws to improve our society.

Using your example I wonder. Does Lebron deserve to make millions upon millions while those in our military make peanuts?

The point is Bezos is just one of many billionaires/millionaires that have wealth beyond comprehension.. We're arguing that it's not fair to throw shade on Bezos for inaccurate statements about how fast his wealth is growing.

Some progressive ideas are dangerous because they want to make it so the worker ants can maybe go to college, see a doctor, have maternity leave, and retire after they work 40 years without wondering if they have to pick one of these options and suffer for it later (if they are lucky enough to have the choice)?

Is the world really so rigid in this duality of communism vs capitalism that there is no middle ground? We are so afraid of helping the common people together, collectively, as a society, that we are fine with just leaving the world to the wealthiest? It's fine that the wealthy will never wonder what it's like to lose vision in one eye and wonder if you can afford to get it checked?

No one is asking to strip away all the wealth and resources of the world and just let people steal government money to be lazy leeches. We're talking about redistributing wealth to the rest of the country. And here comes "well, when is enough enough? Are you going to give everyone a million dollars? Are you going to pay for everyone's car and alcohol?" It's about letting people have a chance at a life without all the deficiencies that we are already living with everyday.

The system doesn't work right now. Not for everyone. If you have a steady income, good retirement, amazing insurance, and already got your masters degrees, I'm happy for you. But just because the system worked out for you and me, doesn't mean it's working the best it could be. And sitting here arguing about Bezos not being quite as unfathomably rich as people want to say is just keeping the commoners fighting amongst ourselves over bread crumbs.
I wonder how much time Bezos spends working,, I bet he doesnt spend time binging tv shows or surfing the net.. thats quadrant 4 on the urgent to important scale.. most people dont have what it takes to become rich.. they dont have the discipline, drive, ambition, or fortitude to keep trying after failure..
Thank Gog we have some few people who do,, yes they become rich, but they make things better for all of us.. Imagine no Bill Gates or Steve Jobs.. Imagine if they didnt have the motivation to excel above and beyond.. Imagine if they were just satisfied to do nothing and make as much as everybody else..

Not sure how this morphed into a “young people suck” thread, but generally my experience with younger generations both in my professional and personal life has been anything but what you describe.
I’m not sure how you read this as a “young people suck” thread. My words were “so many”, not All. I own and run 2 businesses so I have first hand knowledge of hiring people into my companies. Most young people don’t know what work really is, or have a skewed vision of it. I have 2 young guys that are in training and are working out pretty well so far , both in their early 20’s. To get those 2 guys took multiple hires over a 2 year period with numerous headaches. Just getting potential employees to pass a drug test was a challenge and those that did couldn’t manage to show up on time for work. Maybe its the trade your in.

He's not a bad guy, just young and searching for Utopia. All of us were there at some point many years ago. The fact that he's wanting to discuss it is the important thing.
While I don’t agree with him, at least he is giving his point of view without being a dick about it. I’m actually enjoying following the thread.

Fair enough. But you did just alter your “so many” to “most”. My experience has been that energetic workers and slackers are pretty equally distributed across generations. Hell I’ll admit I was not all that driven as a teenager or into my twenties. Used to drive my dad crazy because that guy could do anything around the house, and always had projects going on. Sometimes the pilot light just needs a bit more time to catch. 😊

Reminds me of a saying I heard recently........”Republicans want to help people that work for a living, Democrats want to help those that don’t.”
I am a bit of a pragmatist, so I tend to agree with this generalization. However, I’ve found that saying so is polarizing and makes the Dem supporters defensive to the point that they lash out.

To the few willing to have an honest conversation, I ask them if they’re more concerned about supporting the people Dems claim to want to help, or supporting the Dems themselves. Permanent Welfare has created generational poverty, you can trace family trees back to the ’60s where all or most subsist only because of government support. It’s just enough to keep voting for the people who promise to give you a little more, but not enough to get ahead. Opposing school choice or education reform assists in keeping these same people where they are: on the government tit.

Its debatable exactly how many Dems are truly comfortable and aligned with perpetuating this dynamic but it is the result of their decades long policy stance. It’s awfully damn convenient at best. And the near universal support among Dems to open the borders and literally import poverty shows me that their plan is working as they want it to. The open border policy isn’t about compassion, it’s about flipping Texas and other states blue.

I have no time for Democrats or Republicans- our politics is a sham.
Agreed. A real third party would only need about 8% representation in each chamber to be able to play the Rs and Ds off each other, but I doubt they’d be able to shape policy, they’d just be picking winners from the same 2 choices. And it would need to come from already elected candidates at first, I’m not seeing who would join that coalition.

Trump defeated the establishment of both party’s, but the rogue candidate that not only gets elected but is effective is not something to count on.

Agree 100%!

Alright gentleman, I just came back from a relaxing three day vacation.

I understand yalls perspective, I really do. There's no point continuing this for now as no ones opinion will change. Just some thoughts and you guys can have the last word.

- Just because you had a tough up bringing doesn't mean our countries children should have it so tough if it's avoidable. It doesn't make them soft, it's just working smarter. How lovely would a modern Renaissance be.

- The middle class American should be fearful of some politicians to redistribute their wealth. I don't want that. That's chump change. I just want the .01% that carry so much of the nation's wealth to pay a fair share. I know you guys hate the welfare features but sometimes it's needed. There has to be a better way to facilitate it.

Looking forward to conversing more!

I'll leave you with this one thought......Even diamonds that are manufactured in labs today....carbon requires an intense amount of pressure to form into a diamond. You avoid that pressure, you don't create a diamond because it never has an opportunity to get hard enough. (It remains too soft)

times are better than they used to be,, toughness is not so much required like it used to be,, but,,, things being cyclical in nature,, tough times will come back to us.. and I'd rather have toughness and not need it,, than the other way around.
