Fear-the-Spear is in stage 4 colon cancer. He's well beyond the point of recovery and has very little time left. I've been in contact with him for a few weeks now and I'm simply amazed at his strength. A true Marine.

Anyways...I talked to him on the phone yesterday. He's settled in at his daughter's house in Arlington, Texas now. It was a rough transition moving from Florida to Texas that put him in the hospital for a few days. He's tired and in constant pain in spite of the pain meds. All of them including morphine. He's on his last days. It breaks my heart. He said he won't be visiting the boards anymore. Last thing he said to me before I got off the phone was, "See you on the other side, brother." I don't know how much y'all interacted with him over the years, but he was a constant for me. Fellow Marine that will be sorely missed.

Asking for prayers that his family finds peace and that his passing is as swift and painless as possible.

@RazzlDazzl as a fellow 'Nole', I hope I'm not imposing when I ask that you share this with all of his friends on Rivals.

Don’t know the man personally but that doesn’t matter. May the good Lord keep him and bless his family in these difficult times. May these last days on our Earth be kind and gentle as you go to meet our Father! Know that what unfinished business you believe you have left behind, Jesus will lead your family though. May you always walk with the Father and His Son Jesus as you prepare for your families admittance to Heaven in years to come. Know that this is not the end, but a new beginning for eternity. Blessed are you and your family. 😇

Will do. I opened your pm before regular alerts.

A good poster. A good man. I’m glad he’s with his daughter to live out his last days with someone he loves. That’s all we can really ask, is to be immersed with and comforted by our loved ones as we prepare our own exit. Gives us a chance to comfort them as well. I’ll keep this man in my thoughts.

Also, cancer can go fuck itself.

ODD you’re a true gentleman. We all kid around here about our vices and weaknesses and failures and loves and offspring and spouses and whatnot. But having comforting conversations with a dying man is the stuff of angels. Good on you Marine.

Damn. Sorry to hear this. :(

Always had good banter with him on the boards.

@OldDevilDawg Arlington is only about 2.5 hours from here... If there is anything I can do to help from here or possibly even drive up there let me know.

I know how terrible this is and will be on the family. Dealing with the logistics is still fresh in my mind in dealing with everything that will come at them.

As hard as it is to talk about, when the time comes, we need representation when he's put to rest. Are you up for that task?

I'm just the fortunate soul that found the opportunity to talk to him. I have to give credit to VTSmitty and DawgEStyle for having the intestinal fortitude to make it happen.

Damn. I saw you mention another poster in the tx tiger thread whose health was deteriorating, but didn’t want it out in the open. I was wondering who it was, but hoping to find out under better circumstances. Not that I was hoping for it to be anyone in particular over anyone else, but this sucks. He has always been a good poster, and seems like a great guy. This is sad news indeed. I hate it for him that he’s in constant pain. I hope he can somehow find some comfort, there’s nothing worse than seeing someone suffer.

Well damn. I always hate hearing about good posters who are in these kinds of situations. I only interacted with FTS now and again and usually along with everyone else. I can say he always came across as a decent guy tho. Prayers for him and his family. God bless.

Also ODD, you are doing God's work, brother. I am drinking one for both FTS, and you tonight. Cheers.
