@Nod4Eight I want to hit on a few pieces of of things I think Adam Smith would be absolutely enraged by.

1: any form of corporate bailout for the "too big to fail" companies.

2: Negative taxrates that turn to returns for companies whose employees cannot feasibly make a living off of their salary.

3: The outrageously large land lord market that currently is under a huge amount of strain.

4: Govt interference in both the speculative and regulatory markets.

5: lack of financial backing in our current economy (no gold/silver standard or commodity backing of our notes)

6: Neoliberalism within the market. Smith's whole goal for Capitalism was to free the people from the tyranny of feudalism which was still being practiced in England when he came up with his principles of Capitalism. Neoliberalism which came to more prominence under Pinochet in Chile is now the standard bearer in the US economic system since the dumping of the Gold and Silver standard.

Those are a few talking point to go on at least. I think you and @CouchOnFire would have fun with this topic

I won't disagree with any of those, save number 3.

But Smith would and that's what I'm always fixated on. I hate land lords and land speculators. I always assumed it was a product of capitalism until I read Smith and realized he had a huge hatred of that same very thing. He equates them to creatures who reap what they never sow.

Also, what do you make of this? Smith was very adamant about concentrations of wealth hindering the labourer and creating unequitable and unjust societies in his book "Wealth of Nations." It's also a backing force in my hatred of Bezos and other multi billionaires. It comes directly from Smith himself.

"profits should be low and labor wages high, legislation in favor of the worker is “always just and equitable,” land should be distributed widely and evenly, inheritance laws should partition fortunes, taxation can be high if it is equitable, and the science of the legislator is necessary to thwart rentiers and manipulators."

I could say a lot. But won't. Because I am not Nod or Couch.
