Dr. Fauci Resigns From COVID Task Force

Back in March, my daughter, (in school to complete her LPN program) was exposed and had to quarantine. I showed up at her house not knowing this and she answered the door when I knocked with, "Y'all get back, I've been exposed." My immediate response was, "Well get your ass out here and let's get this shit over with." I don't want to slow the spread and prolong it, I want to get it over with so we all as a country can get past it. It might kill me. I'm OK with that if my kids and grandkids don't have to live their lives in a country full of fearmongering and government control. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that ideology as well.

I disagree that following mild health protocols is the same thing as leaving in fear and under government control. I think our lack of trust in our institutions (and there are many legit reasons why they don’t have our trust) is hurting us right now

I wouldn't have a problem with mild health protocols, but shutting down our economy and killing small businesses is completely unacceptable to me.

Our "institutions" have taught us for decades that they can't be trusted. Why should we even think about trusting them now?

If people followed the mild health protocols, the shutdown would be in our rear view mirror and we would be reopening like they are in Europe, Canada, etc.

As for our institutions, that's a larger conversation that I don't really want to have on a sports message board. But I stand by my statement, our institutions are responsible for the mistrust that our country has for them. However, it's becoming very clear, our mistrust of all institutions is negatively impacting our ability to handle this virus.

The problem is it's not just about the tests. Yes, our # of tests have increased significantly. But our positive test rate is significantly higher than most countries in Europe. We have to choose science and facts over our preferred politicians or this is going to be prolonged crisis.
People who died with covids, are being included.
Dying "with" is substantially different than dying "from"?
Yes?

I understand your point, but IMO, that's just your opinion. I'd like for our country to get back to allowing opinions and agreeing to disagree. Too many of us today state our opinion as fact. I've probably done that very thing in this thread, but for the most part, I've tried really hard to state that I was posting my opinion.

Well said. And we can still be on good terms despite disagreeing. I'd still buy you a beer if you're ever in Oregon

Fauci was obumers guy during the h1n1 swine flu thing, was he not?
Do you remember the crap he said then?
Isn't he on one of billy gaTes board of directors?
1000 some odd strains of the flu. Flu shot has about 20. That is good odds, is it not?
Vaccinations normally take 5 years to test and perfect, and covids will take 6 months until they are ready?

Hahahahaha

I actually made it across the river to Oregon when I was at Nod's place last year.(Albeit, for just a few minutes, because I had to add Oregon to my list of states visited.) Damn shame you couldn't make it to his wedding. My wife has already demanded that we're gonna make that trip again. I'll let you know when and maybe we can get the opportunity to have a few together. I would REALLY enjoy that.

Right but there is a connection between the two. On top of that, we don’t even know the extent of long term damages caused by catching Covid.

The big difference between the flu and Covid is we have a vaccine and treatment if you catch the flu. Covid is more or less a shot in the dark

Google how effective the flu vaccine has been recently. I know last year was a big miss

If the death rate percentage is very low, we are handling very nicely.
Yearly flu has a higher death rate.

You won't regret it, Oregon is a beautiful state and it has a lot to do for tourists (especially if you want to be out in nature). I'm still looking at that Oregon vs. Georgia game in 2022 and figuring out how I can get down to Atlanta for that game. If I can make it, I want some recommendations on what to do while in Georgia!

I've heard there's some fine turkey huntin up that way

Rent a car and get the hell out of Atlanta as fast as possible. That's your priority. After that, I can give you some pointers as to where you can experience the real Georgia inside of a 3 hour drive. :ROFLMAO:

I don't mind driving out of ATL. I would drive up to Athens to see the campus. In ATL, I would want to see the College Football Museum and Georgia Tech's campus. Other than that, I don't really have much else on the to-do list.

Stone Mountain is amazing if you're not too offended by Confederate generals. But some of the most amazing places in Georgia are up in the mountains less than 3 hours away. Hell, you can get down to my part of Georgia in less than 3 hours. I'll put you on a river sandbar with your toes in the sand and a beer in your hand.

I remember visiting the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee when I was in high school. Still one of my favorite vacations.

But it's hard to beat sitting by the river with a beer in your hand!
