I'm 28 years old and I've been sick of my job for a while. Currently I'm a school teacher and football coach. I'm tired of dealing with kids and I'm tired of my head football coach.

I'm thinking of becoming a wildland firefighter. I did it as a summer job for three summers. But I've only been on one wild fire and one prescribed fire. I don't care about pay at this point.

Wood!!!

All kidding aside, money isn’t everything. I walked away from a 20 year,+$100k job because the stress was killing me. You have to be able to find balance and internal peace. I make a lot less now, but I’m happy. Good luck to you!

It sounds like you should make the jump. The future of what education will look like in a virus world is uncertain, besides the fact that you‘re sick of the kids anyway.
Id be leery of recommending such a big change to a difficult and dangerous job, but since you’ve actually done it for 3 years and still can’t shake the thought of doing it again, it seems like a good fit.
Best of luck whatever you decide.

Go for it.

Guy I used to work with did this before he joined the company I worked with.

Yeah. I just am tired of being responsible for bad behaviors and an asshole football coach being under.

Thanks man!

@CFBHome I was thinking of going into the field you wanted to leave before COVID hit. However, after the COVID, I just don't think it would be a good idea. I was planning on getting a degree and then hoping one of the local schools of my choice would have an opportunity. I would then have time to be a part of a coaching staff of just more than the youth league. If you aren't happy, you need to leave. I know the problem I have is that I don't want to lose pay and not have anything definite to rely on. You seem to have that covered. I'm still looking to get back into banking since my banking position was eliminated in the buyout and our entire department was cut. This inventory/other bs is getting old fast. Good luck!

luckily, you still have yer youth on yer side,
so you've got plenty of time -

my best buddy
made a major career change,
and got his physical therapy license
in his late 40s -

i believe one should be happy
with their career -

go get em,
and good luck!

guns up!

i make more than most but i hate my job and am too far down the highway to change.

like everyone else said, do what you love. especially at your age. if you don't have a family to support, why are you even thinking about it?

My dad always said “When the going gets tough the tough get going”. I think about that every time shit happens.
