Best thing Mom and Dad did for my financial maturity is when I turned 12, they sat me down when they did the monthly budget, as well as the ranch finances quarterly. That way I learned the importance of being financially responsible and understand how to do a budget as well as how to run a business. I did this with my daughter when she turned 12 as well.

I totally agree with that. I am probably going to put him in Dave Ramsey when he's old enough but not hard core. I think of how much money I've wasted the past five years.

Thing is, sometimes we do things that we think is a waste at the time. As the years pass, we are surprised that those things were some of the most influential in what turned out to be a most positive situation.

It’s really interesting when you overhear your kid utter something to someone else that they got from you and you had no idea would sink in. I once overheard my daughter tell an ex-boyfriend that saying “I’m sorry but ...” really just means you’re not sorry, and that an apology only requires two words.

There’s a running joke that goes back and forth on both boards between @pooods and his mom versus other posters moms.

Very juvenile I know, but it’s been going on for years. It’s all in fun and nobody gets offended.

Anyhow, i’m not getting involved in any controversy. I like flying under the radar.


As far as fishing goes, I was in the market for an offshore center console, but the used boat market is on fire right now. So I’m going to let it settle down before I buy one.

The rig I have now is more of a cruising boat than a fishing boat.

But we will definitely do it one day!
