Auburn has fired Gus Malzahn...

Seriously I don't get it. Not being 'that guy'. But Saban has maybe 5 years or so left before he starts planning to head for the ol dusty trail.

Now you have to get someone on the cheap while you have a 21 million alimony payment to the last guy, that you fired for averaging 9 or 10 wins a season. So the new guy has to be better than that, for cheaper than that. And compete against Saban doing it.

Personally I would have sat on Gus for at least 2 more years, saved some cash and planned on the coaching change instead of just reacting in the worst possible year to go coach hunting

Typical barn dum' azzery. The fan base is cult crazy and act with no reason whatsoever. When he beats Alabama he is a hero lose and gets fired. School has more money than sense.

Was going to ask. Is Helton's seat cooling off after his performance this year ?
Fans want him gone. While undefeated in a whole (sarcasm) 5 games, the team continues to look un-coached, and just plain pathetic.

The talent of the players has won 3 of those games, not coaching. QB Slovis has led last minute drives with perfection to win them.

Plus CV helped save his job. Having the Alabama and ND games canceled saved us from two embarrassing beat downs.

So enjoy the holidays even more, Helton isn’t going anywhere.

I have a good friend here that is a huge USC fan. And during the Weis and Willingham beat downs he would just laugh and laugh. I always warned him.

He doesnt laugh as much anymore.

Firing a coach that got them to a BCS title when Alabama is the nation's juggernaut, Georgia, Florida and A&M are established powers, and the Mississippi schools are ascending. Brilliant.

I'm glad he's gone, he's a piece of trash and he gave us fits. Auburn is dumber than Hell, and can go there, promptly.

Look at the recruiting rankings, 24-7 has them at #42, ahead of only Vandy and Carolina in the SEC, and Rivals has them at #52, ahead of only Carolina. They aren’t going to get much better results without better players.

Maybe they’ll hire Freeze so he can work some of that recruiting magic he did at Ole Miss.

//The ethos of his order — scattered, smothered, covered and chunked — can best be used to describe the dark arts that accompany this and every Auburn coaching search. Whenever a major decision has to be made in Auburn athletics, a familiar question emerges: Who will actually make it?
“No one knows who is in charge,” said an industry source. “They have to figure out who is making the hire.”
Who will be the latest Auburn coach to attempt to topple Nick Saban? There’s an old saying in the search industry that you can’t project a school’s hire when you don’t know who is making it. Allen Greene is Auburn’s athletic director, and he’s one of the sharpest young ADs in the industry. And there are few people who think he’s got the final say on this hire.
Greene’s voice is just one of many at Auburn, which has long had outsized booster influence, a meddling board and an institutional bloodlust to beat Alabama that’s occasionally blinding.\\

Whatever happens, the barn will always be Bama's retarded little brother.

Of course they will. Auburn cheats.
