I think I admitted it was legal. Within the rules as outlined. Gilbert was in fact hit hard in the previous series by a player wearing #41. Possibly late but the pass was caught and advanced for a touchdown. Making the argument entirely moot. For the record, both the tackle on Colt, and the hit on Gilbert were perfectly legal. The tackle on Colt was a routine tackle and he was injured. Football is a violent game and injuries happen. The hit on Gilbert was perfectly legal as well. While there are rules in place to protect a defenseless player (can’t hit the QB in the head area or knees when he’s in the pocket) if he has the ball he is not afforded any more protection than any other ball carrier, meaning you can knock the shit out of him, which in this case they did. Learn the rules, and speak ( type) from a position of knowledge, not emotion.
But as far as intending to injure that isn't allowed. It shouldn't be advocated. The fact both quarterbacks summarily were removed speaks volumes. I think Brigham Young ought to be ashamed for their own mistakenly unnecessary hit on Bradford.
Max Hall later proved himself to be something of a reprobate. Making it essential to clarify it isn't about partisanship. But sportsmanship. Fair play within the rules.
