The Pit of Misery: Politics and Religion

South Carolina is about to clarify and tighten legislation that will keep the feds from interfering with our gun owners. Current law automatically makes South Carolina gun owners a member of the South Carolina "Unorganized" Militia (one can opt out, but all gun owners are automatically opted in, 17 and older.), an official state militia is allowed to legally own weapons by federal law, and cannot be interfered with (per legislation sponser). The unorganized militia can be called to duty by governor in times of war, etc.

No problem if necessary. A lawyer friend of mine told me one time that the United States has spent most of it's existance trying to appease South Carolina. 😄

By the way, Fort Sumter was the third act of hostility, the second was another group South Carolina boys, The Citadel cadets fired upon the Star of the West on Feb. 9th, the day after Lt. Adam Jacoby Slemmer ordered his company of U. S. troops to fire upon Florida troops sent to garrison Fort Pickens in Pensacola. Slemmer had abandoned Fort Barrancas (a fort leased to the U. S., and illegally occupied Fort Pickens (not leased from Florida), an old "star fort" abandoned years previous. The U. S. siezed a fort belonging to the Confederate State of Florida and fired shots in hostility first. But the history books don't show that event. Lt. Slemmer was promoted to Brigadier General despite any further significant action.
