I've made reference to my belief that the Sun Belt may be the premiere G-5 now. Some of you may remember years ago when we were on that other site that I predicted their rise when AppSt and Georgia Southern moved up from FCS and joined their ranks. The addition of Coastal Carolina sealed the deal.

Terry Bowden took over at ULM this year. He spent 5 seasons as the HC at Auburn. His OC is none other than RichRod. Yes, THAT RichRod of WVU, Michigan, and Arizona head coaching fame. ULM was 0-10 last year.

Former Houston HC, Major Applewhite, is now the OC at South Alabama.

Jake Bentley, former 4-star QB that spent time as a starter for South Carolina and Utah is now gonna be the starter at South Alabama.

Former Clemson QB, Chase Brice is the new QB on campus at AppSt.

There's a lot of well known names in CFB that are ending up in the Sun Belt.

The problem is, these schools never get a fair shot against the big boys.

I met my wife at a Troy football game. These kids can play too imo...

Most Sun Belt teams play a game or 2 against the big boys every year. I honestly think Louisiana beats Texas this year. I also believe Georgia Southern beats BYU this year. It's one step at a time. Not so long ago, the Sun Belt was the laughing stock of FBS conferences. They were easily dead last in rankings at the FBS level. With 2 teams in the final top 25 last season, I think they have established themselves as the top G-5. They had a 125% increase in viewership last season according to ESPN stats which resulted in an increase in revenue from ESPN. We'll start to see more of their games on TV. As a Bama fan, and obviously a Troy fan, you understand that CFB down here in the South is truly a religion. I'm an OLD school Georgia Southern fan. I was going to their games when Erk Russell built the program in the 80s. I'm just saying that the Sun Belt is on the rise, just as I predicted many years ago.

Honestly, if the little schools had the exposure, I would prefer to watch them play.

College football is becoming more like boxing imo. Too many questionable calls imo. Add to that this whole payment bullshit...

Meh, nothing but trouble and bullshit down the road

I'll bleed Red n Black till I die, but I still have small schools that I follow. I'm pretty damn sure that NIL will have zero affect on Valdosta State.

I didn't realize how beefy the Fun Belt is getting now. The AAC has basically ran the convo since Utah and TCU left the Mountain West.

That’s some legit talent in the coaching ranks. I might have to revisit this topic and let my Draft Kings balance ride on Sun Belt teams against the P5 OOC games.
