Wednesday I'm going to do the free training from the NWS to become one. Need to do the 2 courses yet as well. Just curious as what to expect.

Looked at that when I was into Amateur radio in the 1990s but never made the leap.

Awesome! I haven't looked too much into that aspect yet. The weather spotting grabbed my attention first. Once certified, I'll look into amateur radio. I believe there are 3 certifications for that if I'm not mistaken.

i'm a bit of a weather hound also -
here in east tx,
we get quite a variation -
always keep my eye on the radar -

we have a local feature here -
we're sittin on a big a big pile of sand -
i've noticed how rains associated
with minor fronts,
break apart as it moves across -
may have somethin to do
with the abundant iron concretions
in the formation underneath us -

Don't have to do the 2 courses, but I probably will for the hell of it. Very basic knowledge, but good knowledge to possess none the less. There is more training modules that probably have the in depth analysis I was seeking. I'd still suggest it as it could be a funny hobby and help save others in the process.
