Bo Nix to Oregon

I am not sure if I can agree with you on this because IMHO you cannot make that judgement unless he had the tools to do his job and I don't think Auburn has provided those tools. For starters Gus' system is not a passing QB's friend and normally had only one or two receivers per play as a target. Add in the O line getting Bo beat like he was cheating on Ike Turner with Bobby Brown and the fact that the game planning has not featured RPOs, slants and/or any other hot routs to counter blitzes and what are you expecting him to do? There is a reason that Auburn has only been challenging for the SECW when we have a Kerrion Johnson/Trey Mason/Cam type back getting the ball 30 times a game. I am not saying that he is a great or even good QB, just that Auburn failed to provide him the tools to develop into one.
First and foremost, Jalen is the type of young man that you hope your daughter dates. I think more of him than probably any current player because of how he conducted himself when Tua took over. He displayed pure class, pure integrity, work ethic, and a team first attitude after being benched. I just think that Gus, and Auburn in general, failed to give Bo the tools for development. He very well might have regressed either way but I just believe he was never put in a position to succeed given the tools/training/system he had at his disposal.

Fully agree with everything you said. Just a couple of observations.

Bo still has happy feet. He never learned to plant his feet in the pocket. Someone should have been working with him on that since day one. It's easier to teach good habits than it is to unteach bad ones. Under Gus' system he wasn't taught basic mechanics of a pocket passer because Gus didn't want a pocket passer. After 2 years, it's too late. His bad habits went unchecked. When Harsin took over and brought in Mike Bobo, I thought there was a chance. While I've never liked Bobo as an OC, I'm on record praising his quality as a QB coach. I really thought Bobo would help Nix progress in his fundamentals. I did see some signs of improvement, but again, bad habits are hard to unteach.

I said all that to say this.....

With Lanning to Oregon, and Brian McClendon as the interim HC, is it possible Lanning retains McClendon as the WR coach and convinces Bobo to come in as QB coach. The Georgia connection is strong.

The biggest weird thing I see is that Lanning has already hired Kenny Dillingham as OC. Dillingham was Auburn's OC in 2019, Nix's freshman season.

East coast folks on the west coast. Who will be in for the bigger culture shock? Dan and Bo? Or the Ducks with adjusting to SEC style football?
In less than a year from now Dan and Bo will be sucking down soy lattes while driving these ...
