NIT 1st Round: Western Kentucky at St. Mary's [ESPN2]

Wow, UNC made it at 13-10.

Without the number of OOC games, you saw a lot of teams hanging around .500 make the NCAAT. It was a little weird but I guess it makes sense.

I'm scared to death about Oregon's matchup with South Dakota. Oregon will likely be without their starting PG PaoPao and they struggled down the stretch. I wouldn't be shocked at all if South Dakota won.

Men's NCAAT Games Today:

Texas Southern vs. Mount St. Mary's - 5:10 EST on truTV
Drake vs. Wichita State - 6:27 EST on TBS
Appalachian State vs. Norfolk State - 8:40 EST on truTV
UCLA vs. Michigan State - 9:57 EST on TBS

I like the idea of the tournament being consolidated to one particular area. Hopefully that's something they stick with going forward.

Meanwhile at Mississippi State Women's Basketball, we have some possible turmoil in progress. The Bulldogs went 10-9 this season and their season is over. One of Coach McCray's assistants just took a head coaching gig at Austin Peay and 4 players (as of today) have decided to transfer out. This is Nikki McCray's 1st season with the team after rebuilding Old Dominion's program.

I think people saw this coming after Schaefer left. It makes it even harder when the drop off was so drastic in year 1. It's essentially a complete rebuild now.

If so, then this could be a deadwood clearing situation. The only drawback is that this is the SEC which is more hyper competitive. You've got coaches like Dawn Staley, Joni Taylor, and Gary Blair raising the bar and this is a conference where patience is always in short supply from its fans.

4 very good games to start the men's tournament.

A few games on my radar today:

Virginia Tech vs. Florida - 12:15 EST on CBS
Utah State vs. Texas Tech - 1:45 EST on TNT
Oregon State vs. Tennessee - 4:30 EST on TNT
Wisconsin vs. North Carolina - 7:10 EST on CBS
Rutgers vs. Clemson - 9:20 EST on TBS
Syracuse vs. San Diego State - 9:40 EST on CBS
