A boycott could be brewing over how much money players receive for being included in EA Sports' college football video game.

On3's Pete Nakos recently said the combined compensation for players who opt into the video game is expected to be $5 million. That would pay $500 to each player.

Apparently, that $500 fee won't fly with the College Football Players Association.

“All current players should boycott this deal. It is an opt-in deal, and they should not opt into it. It is just a ridiculously low amount of money,” Falcinelli told On3. “Given the context and the hype that surrounds this game. When we first heard the number, we’re like, ‘Alright, that sounds low. Let’s go figure out if it is low.’ And started talking to guys, talked to some of my friends, some guys who are still playing in the NFL. ‘So, what are NFL players getting paid for Madden?’ And the numbers we were given were from 2019, it was disclosed that they got, I think, about $17,000. And then a current NFL player told us that he got a check for $28,000 this year for Madden.

“You should not participate in this. It is a simple cash grab to just try to get you for the lowest amount possible. And it’s OneTeam Partners and all these organizations that don’t really represent the players’ best interest."

Ridiculous. They will have to pay thousands of players vs the NFL's 32 teams rosters, some that never make the cut. Fucking Lawyers. One could only WISH to be in a video game as themselves. The ones that accept the 500 if possible will be laughing at the ones that didnt. "Hey here comes number 00 running up the middle for no gain." LMAO

To add: Ill pay THEM $500 for my NIL to be a back-up LB at UK for my NIL. Theres a whole new market right there!!!

I saw a breakdown on Twitter based on previous sales, which were about a million units at $55. So $55mm gross revenue. 130 DI teams with 85 scholarships is about 11,000 players. At $500 per player, that’s $5.5mm, or 10% of gross revenues. That seems reasonable to me.

Also, the Madden franchise is an absolute monster, the sales are mind boggling. And there’s only about 1500 NFL players that split the cash.

This isn’t a bad deal for the players, might as well take the money IMO.

Some of these dudes gotta realize 500 for their name is gonna be more than they’ll see their whole college career
