Congrats Tennessee

Even Hourning laughed about getting the H at 2-8 later. Heck of a player, but you still need a good season to lead your team to victory IMO. What that means is subjective these days.
Side note: Johnny Majors was robbed of the award in 1956. They were 10-1.

UGA has a great team and is in line to win the National title, but you don't get non team awards for it too. Bennett is not the best QB statistically :) .
Numbers were never part of the definition of the Heisman Award. You're right, it's all that matters now, but that's bullshit, and you know it.

"The Heisman Memorial Trophy (usually known colloquially as the Heisman Trophy or The Heisman) is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. It is presented by the Heisman Trophy Trust in early December before the postseason bowl games. " -Wiki

Washington goes 4 - 8 last season, brings in the next Russell Wilson via the Transfer Portal and they go 10 - 2.

Michael Penix Jr, Washington
4,354 passing yds, 66%, 29 TD, 7 INT, 86 rushing yds, 4 TD

no ma'am -
the waterboys aren't typically on the field,
unless its a timeout -
The point stands, Bennett is not as instrumental to UGA's success as Hooker is to UT's. Vols win 7-8 without Hooker and UGA is still undefeated without Bennett.

Opinion piece aside, what you say has nothing to do with the original definition of the Heisman Award.

It does have everything to do with who is more deserving though.

The biggest moment in Hooker's career, he got prison raped by a UGA defense full of Freshmen. You might want to rethink your argument.
That is literally the definition of the Award. It says absolutely nothing about "more deserving".

Fact is, neither will win it, so our debate is worthless. Both deserve to be in NY for the ceremony, IMO. That's the best I can offer..

That's not actually true. Hooker completed 69% of his passes while Bennett completed only 68% of his passes. We both know UGA has a great defense and UT does not, so Hooker out performed Bennett against though competition.
