Coronavirus count. How much Where you live?

Kent county Michigan. Home to the Grand Rapids metro area, otherwise mostly rural/agricultural.
Population: 650,000
”Presumptive “ positive tests: 1822 (.0028% of population)
Deaths: 39 (.00006% of population)

A buddy of mine is a cop, he said the mayor/city council seem disappointed in the low numbers and keep ordering that the homeless get tested. They’re friendly with the governor and want to keep things shut down. One homeless guy tested positive and was asked to agree to isolation. He said “F*** you, I’m going to buy some smokes!”, and then he walked right out of the shelter.

The governor has ordered fines of $1000 and potentially arrest for anyone who isn’t social distancing, which the mayor loved. The city attorney immediately spoke up and said that if they implemented that policy they would lose millions in lawsuits. The cops were like, gee, sorry, I guess we can’t do that mayor!

Itis a certainty that there are many more people who would test positive if all 650,000 of us were tested. It’s also extremely likely that of the 39 dead that some of them died of something other than the Rona. Even if we take these numbers at face value, 99.98% of those infected survive.

I don’t know the latest numbers, but at least 25% are unemployed.

County ~30,000 population. 5th case, 1st new case in a month reported today. Employee of the shithole I used to work at, (county east of me) got it at work along with 3/4 of the patients and staff there. No deaths...

52 cases, 1 death night before last. Heard EMS call and later coroner call on scanner.

Busy night that night. About 3 "difficulty breathing" another 3 "chest pains" 2 overdoses (another coroner call to one of those) 2 general sickness and an overturned car wreck, all between 3am and 4am. So many calls, it kept me awake through it. We are under 30,000 in county, primarily rural agriculture.

Damn, that's a lot for a county that size...

It looks like going to the beach is a good idea, those numbers are great!
OC doesn’t think much of the governor here largely due to his insanity and lots of folks disobeyed his orders of closed beaches so he got all pissy again and threatened $1000 fines for beach goers. Laguna responded last Saturday by having a rally of defiance. Shit’s gettin’ serious.

Ruff, are you just like my father with a police scanner going 24/7??

The virus cases or the EMS calls?

The EMS numbers are abnormal, usually less than that on a busy day, the whole day.

Our 52 cases almost doubled in about the last three weeks. Still one of the fewest in the area. Dillon County (think South of the Border at the state line and I-95) went from about 18 to 72 in two weeks. Lumberton, NC up I-95 has exploded with cases and is apparently sharing with Dillon.

Thought I read that the Sheriff said that his department would not enforce it there. If that's not a fuck off asshole statement, don't know what is...

Oh yeah, that happened! Gov Moonbeam complained that OC has no right to defy a statewide directive, sheriff replied by pointing out the state doesn’t have the right to defy federal laws ie marijuana. Total shit show.

Lots of unconstitutional shit going on with "mandates" being enforced by the power of arrest. Starter:

Article the third... Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
