Lots of stories get written about a player that lost an opportunity because of unseen health issues. We all see and post about how sad it is when a talented kid ends his promising career. How about a story where the good guy wins?

Can this be considered a homer post? Yes.

Can this be a thread about something good coming from a terrible situation for a college football player? A RESOUNDING yes.

Just read it.

No matter what team you root for, we all root for these kids that play the game we love to be fans of. If you can't root for D'wan Mathis, we can't be friends.

I have always, and always will bleed UGA Red N Black. This story transcends my love of UGA. I hope this kid has a season that takes him to NYC for the Heisman presentation ceremony. Whether UGA is undefeated when he shows up in New York, or goes 7-3 and sits at home watching the SECCG.....or hell, even if they lose every damn game.

Bottom line.....if you can't root for him, you are not a true fan of CFB. Just my opinion.

Just look at the excitement in this kid's eyes and the smile on his face.

This is what dreams are made of for those guys. That look tells me everything I need to know about players that just want to play.

I've been a fan of the #WeWantToPlay movement since day 1. I honestly believe involvement in that movement by the players in the B1G (Led by Justin Fields, BTW) was substantially involved in the turnaround decision by the B1G and their return to a 2020 Fall season.
