Couple of things....

- Did you know this is a rivalry?

- Do you remember that both teams were in the WAC?

- Do you remember when Bama was on probation in like 02 and 03, they scheduled Hawaii as their last game for their Probation Bowl, so their players could enjoy the island.

Last year, they had this game on a day not named Christmas Eve. Today, it returns to its traditional spot on the calendar.
 
Before Aloha Stadium locked itself as football only, it was dual purpose. That other purpose was baseball and it looked like this.

Fun Fact: The last season not to have a Bowl game at Aloha Stadium, not counting all-star games was 2001, the season between the last Oahu and Aloha Bowls and the first Hawaii Bowl. For 2001, the Aloha was no more, eventually being replaced in 2002 by the Hawaii Bowl and the Oahu Bowl was replaced by the Seattle Bowl which lasted 2 years. 2001 notwithstanding, we have to go back to 1981 being sans Bowl games in Hawaii.
 
That's as close as one can get to making it and still missing.
