I'm ready for it to be Thursday

Wow. The Payton Bowen train just keeps getting crazier.

So what I can say on this.

As of last week he was 100% going Oklahoma. Him and his brother want to go to school together. He is one year behind. And also plays secondary. And is being highly recruited by Oklahoma.

Add to this Oklahoma was throwing money and promises on this. And there is a girl. And the girl is going to Oklahoma. So as of last Friday. After 11 months of being committed to ND. The ND HC had to practically beg to get an in home visit in. And Bowen and family had basically said he was going Oklahoma. But ND wanted one last swing.

The visit went from all accounts as good as it could and ND basically left it at that for the weekend. Enter Duckzilla. Something happened Saturday. And all of the sudden the people in the know at Oklahome were scrambling. And I guess there was a couple reports of multiple promises back and forth.

Last night all of the ND recruits had a zoom call together. Tracking our who would commit or interview with who and when. All the stuff you do to celebrate. And Bowen was on the call. He apologized to the class for the drama. Said he talked it over with his family. And was full tilt back to ND. Sighting the 4 for 40 decision. And everyone was cool.

Fast forward to today. Get to the recruiting announcement. There isn't even an Oklahoma hat on the table. And as you saw from the video. His ma wasn't happy about the announcement. Now I don't know if it has changed yet. But as of last I looked he still hasn't actually sent in his letter to Oregon yet.

This kid is a ton of drama.

Raylen Wilson is the fastest LB to EVER play for UGA. 6'2" 215. #3 LB in the nation
nice!
should be exciting to watch him play -

we got a fast LB as well,
but not quite as big -
"At 6-foot-2, 200-pounds, Horne runs a 13.8 second time in the 110 hurdles, which translates to a very big human who can move very quickly and change direction at a moments notice."

Sounds like yall dodged a bullet.

You are correct.

And the worst part is that he still might end up on the roster. I mean at the end of the day he is a 5* star recruit and ain't no one turning down his athletic ability. Including the ND staff. Personally I think there is like a 1% chance he ends up in S. Bend for multiple reasons. But it isn't impossible that he does.

I do think after the ceremony that he went home and his parents unloaded on him. And that is why there wasn't a NLI letter sent to Oregon yet. This kid is 18 and is staring a 6 figure signing bonus. And ND is saying we can't match that, but here is what we can offer.

I get these kids are going through something none of us ever have. And this sport is poisoning itself with this crap. But if nothing else this kind of thing should be used as an example of what is wrong with the current system.

As of 5-10 minutes ago, Twitter has started predicting Bowen back to OU, I thought this shit was over

I can tell you that is true. He either already has, or will shortly be. Signing with Oklahoma.

ND told him no. And I can tell you that he was in touch with ND yesterday and the ND recruiting class yesterday trying to change it.

The long and short of what I was told. Is that he was informed this isn't Brian Kelly's ND anymore, and they don't have to shop down an aisle that includes these kind of problems. For lack of better terms said we don't deal with a gun to our head. There are enough other kids that are happy to be here. And for that I am super impressed because I promise you any year under the Brian Kelly administration even last year with the chaos with Kelly leaving, they would have done anything possible to keep this kid in the class.

Here is my thing. And this is what really pisses me off.

1. He ruined the day for so many other great recruits by making his drama the headline. All those other kids at ND, Oklahoma, etc that have worked just as hard as him lost their moment because he had to be so extra. And that sucks for them. Instead of celebrating them, the pundits are spending their time on keeping the click bait articles at the top.

2. He poisoned his little brothers recruitment. I mean no matter what. Who would believe a word that comes out of anyone in this family's mouths. And that sucks for his little brother. He might be a seriously legit guy that is 180 degrees different but now he is walking in under the gun before he gets started.

100 percent agree. I try to stay neutral in all of this, but it’s gonna have a bad taste no matter how it turns out

I do to. I don't care that he isn't coming to ND in the long of it. Someone else will and it will be what it is. I don't care that he is going to Oregon, or Oklahoma or whereever. It is how you do it. He told ND he was on board for 11 months. For that time he kept saying how solid he was, and that kept ND from approaching other recruits because of it. So now you get to the 11th hour and he wants to play 'Lets Make a Deal'. I don't care that he is chasing dollars be honest and say it. Don't say you are going to Oregon 'because of the natural fit and long term relationship'. Dude you weren't even talking to them 60 days ago. I literally have left overs older than your recruitment with them. Just be honest. When Keon Keely who was silently commited to ND went to the coaches and said 'hey here is what it is' and then went to Bama. That's cool. He was honest. And I think Keely is a better player than this kid. But he did it the right way. This kid is just ruining for the next kid, the next class, the next deal. He is what makes the system worse.

This is Jamaal Jarrett standing with Jordan Davis. Just 2 North Carolina 3-stars that wanted to play nose tackle for UGA,
