Lincoln Riley is currently out with an illness. In his absence, another offensive guru could assume a larger role.

Per The Athletic's Antonio Morales, Riley missed USC's practice for the second straight day on doctor's orders to rest at home. Wide receivers coach Dennis Simmons is serving as the acting head coach.

USC is also working with NCAA compliance regulations to make Kliff Kingsbury an acting assistant.

So, is Riley already taking the Urban Meyer route?

But seriously...

Damn it.

I wanted him there for years.

However. Kliff would be the perfect replacement. Or hey. Maybe just bring back Helton. I mean bad was it really under him ;)
Helton is actually doing a pretty decent job at Georgia Southern. 5-2 so far this season with the only losses being to Minnesota and undefeated James Madison. Both on the road. He's continued to improve the team since he arrived 2 years ago to take over a 3-9 squad, and I'd like for him to stick around for a while, TIA.

I am glad he is successful there. Sometimes that change of scene or whatever is what it takes.

I mean look at coaches like Kiffin. When he was USC he was not great. But now with some more wisdom and whatnot he is doing things at Ole Miss he could have never done at the time at USC.

It's interesting to note that USC has fired coaches before and many of them have went on to have success in other places. LK has done well at Ole Miss, Sark appears to be building up Texas and Coach O won a title at LSU.
