Mason at Vandy fired

I don't know what the "girl" has to do with anything. I'm guessing getting shut out by Missouri and a squib kick being one of the few plays executed all that well the entire game had more to do with it. That and going winless this season.

Wasnt he the one that blamed losing his first season bot being able to find a playbook he lost in his personal library or something like that ?

I think the point is that the “girl” thing was an obvious stunt to distract from the lousy season and lousy job he was doing and not a real effort to do anything about it. If they needed another kicker, they could have held a tryout on frat row and probably found some intramural soccer player who could do more than just execute a squib kick. I don’t know why he didn’t just go ahead and replace the whole damn team with girls, it’s not like their record would’ve improved, and if you’re going to virtue signal you might as well go all in.

In other words, women are only good enough for publicity purposes, not as human beings or athletes according to you.

No, that’s according to Vanderbilt, not me. I don’t believe in being condescending to women, I think that they should be given jobs because they are the most qualified person for the job, not so they can make history as the first P5 woman football player. Jackie Robinson didn’t break the MLB color barrier because they thought it would be neat to have colored players on the team, the SEC wasn’t integrated so they could have some more “diversity” on the squads, black players earned their way on the field through their performance, and despite racism, not for a feel-good moment on tv.

You know what, I'm actually interested. I'm interested in where Vanderbilt Football said "We're adding an athlete who can kick and not only knows how to win games, but SEC titles as nothing more than a publicity stunt."

I'm interested in you sharing a link where they said that.

Well, here's a story about her wanting to stay on the team.

I've read in other places how people are wondering if in today's pc/diversity world if there will be a requirement for every team to have a woman on the team. And it'll be interesting if it happens and one gets leveled by some guy how it'll be the squeal of toxic masculinity/machismo or whatever how the men are threatened by having a girl on the team. Can't say anything like that on air else get fired or sent to "diversity/sensitivity training".

Let me know when you find where I said women were only good for publicity purposes and not as human beings or athletes. You won’t even have to google it, just scroll up, it should be easy to find.

Yes, it was easy.

Let's break this down further.

"I think the point is that the “girl” thing was an obvious stunt..."

Translation: Girls on the team are a stunt, nothing more.

"If they needed another kicker, they could have held a tryout on frat row and probably found some intramural soccer player who could do more than just execute a squib kick."

Translation: Find some dude to do these things, not a proven athlete that can win since that athlete has a vagina.

"I don’t know why he didn’t just go ahead and replace the whole damn team with girls, it’s not like their record would’ve improved, and if you’re going to virtue signal you might as well go all in."

OH NOES!!! TEH GURLS!!! WTF!!!

Please find another board. There's Rivals, especially the College Basketball Board. They love sexism. There's SportsHoopla and HooplaNation which are places I post at with the express purpose of not giving a fuck. This is FQ though. I tend to care a little more about this place and right now you ain't it.

Now if it turns out, sexism bullshit is the kind of thing are championing, I will apologize to Wake and the rest of the site for my participation here and exit.

I did it. It's an easy interpretation.
Well, sure, it’s easy to “prove” something when you can interpret things to say something that it doesn’t say. Look, if Vandy had decided they needed a kicker, and they announced an open tryout and she had come in and won the competition, I wouldn’t say a word about it just being a stunt, I’d just mock the Vanderbilt student body for not having some smart kid who was a kicker in high school in their student body, but that’s not what happened. They reached out to her, and it’s a fair interpretation, since apparently we are allowed to do that here, that the motivation wasn’t strictly based on her placekicking and kickoff abilities, since she had no prior experience at either.

Just FYI.

I think you are trying to pick a fight no one else was trying to have.

I said the girl thing as a joke.

If you are feeling the need to go 10 rounds of triggered on yourself go at it bro. Just know it wasnt the intent

I'm not choosing sides in this little bit of hoopla (<<<pun intended), but Vandy had already finished the semester and all of the students had gone home. Mason is good friends with the Vandy women's soccer coach and that was one of his few options so he gave the guy a call. I just figured I would point out his limited options. Hell I kinda like it. Did you see her? She's 6'2 and prolly 180-185. Pretty sure she could kick my ass with one arm. I was pissed on the call for a squib kick because I wanted to see how far she could kick it. She's not exactly used to kicking an oblong ball but she can kick a round one about 80 yards from what I heard.

Thanks, “only available option” is a reasonable explanation.

I'm with 285 on this one, Kace, you know I love you doe. If she had the ability to kick it in the endzone(which is the standard by which place kickers should live by) then she would've proven it.

With that said, the Huskers don't have a kicker that can kick touchbacks either...or tackle....or throw better than girls, so I'll just leave you all with the below(but really dedicated to my favorites: @Kace-1 @Toadman005 @CowpokeU & @Tidergirl - the girl half)
