I heard one report on the radio that he gave the family money so they could move to Memphis. It's odd that isnt mentioned more if true. I'm guessing Penny hasn't done the same for anyone that doesn't commit to playing for him.
 
any coach that's worth his salt had helped his players before, it's just that we don't hear about or they hide it well. Many players came from poor families.
