More likely to end Ohio State's dominance in the B1G East? Penn State or Michigan

Ohio State is dominating on the field and in recruiting. It certainly doesn't appear to be coming to an end. That said, which team in the East is more likely to end Ohio State's dominance? Penn State or Michigan?

IMO, Franklin is a better HC than Harbaugh. Consider that he is the only head coach in Vanderbilt history to take the Commodores to back to back 9 win seasons. That's over 125 years of football.

Michigan might have a higher profile in tradition, and has more money to spend. Penn State is hungry.

Recruiting may be the difference in who challenges tOSU when it's all said and done.

I still firmly believe that Franklin can win a Natty at PSU. Not sure Harbaugh can bring one to Ann Arbor.

Ohio State isn't going anywhere unless they implode from the inside.

Michigan was solid until the departure of Lloyd Carr. I think they have missed in every coaching hire since him. Harbaugh included.

What if Ryan Day accepts an NFL job, though? …..you know the offer is gonna come if he continues to have such success at his age. That's not an implosion. That's a changing of the guard. Then what?

Harbaugh is another coach just like Brian Kelly.

He is good for 8 to 10 wins a season that will go above or below the average once every handful of years.

He will win most of the games he is supposed to. And then coin flip against equal or superior opponents.

And they both want the NFL instead of college.

Franklin is a legit decent coach. I dont know if he is good enough to be in that top tier. But he is building something real in happy valley. And putting an energy there that hasnt been there since the 80 / 90s

@fritowrdo What do you think?

I do not see either team ending the dominance of Ohio State in the east. While there will be teams that do beat us we will not be down for long.

While someone like Harbaugh is a good coach, he is over rated for what his fans, his pay and the media give him attention for. He will some day beat Day but I do not envision him going 5-0 against Day. If Harbaugh had Ohio States team members, I think they would be 10-3 and if Meyer/Day had Michigan's team members, they would be the same place as Ohio State is today. I know this hurts many Michigan fans but after 5 years, we have seen what Harbaugh is made of.

Agree with you on BK and Harbaugh.

I think Michigan fans think that is not true due to their Michigan man at the helm, you have to start asking will how much longer.

I think BK is a slightly better coach than Harbaugh and has and will bring more success to ND than what Harbaugh has.

Which program do you think has a higher ceiling? Penn State or Michigan?

OSU is going to run the conference for the most part for the foreseeable future. They’ll win as many titles as everyone else combined. Harbaugh has shown his ceiling. Franklin recruits very well but seems to have some gaffes as a game day coach, which you just can’t do to surpass OSU.

FTR, they’re all going to stomp MSU this year.

Say neither because my beloved Wolverines have decided to join Notre Dame in being good to average. Never winning a National Championship but maybe getting close to the conversation. Penn State beats themselves when it matters most and that still hasn't changed. PSU may have a better shot at Michigan, but I don't see either. Definitely don't see MSU doing it anymore either. IU has started to scare me in the east. They have quietly started to improve. As for the whole B1G, I think Wisconsin will be the team that could or will dethrone the Buckeyes.

I don't believe that Day will be going anywhere anytime soon. He has young kids and I don't believe that he and his wife want to keep moving around and they seem to love Columbus.

It is because the fans a stuck on their record and that just being a Michigan man will take them to the top.

Plus if Michigan drops Harbaugh, who do they get?

I think most of them and me in some degree just don't want to have those RichRod & Hoke years happening again. It's too bad Hoke & Harbaugh couldn't get together, as I think they could work well together. Eventually they will want better results, but I could be wrong. Maybe we are going to be just like Notre Dame and go with BK until he decides to quit.
