I am actually rewatching the game as we talk. There is still so much about this team that worries me. It is very odd the ND and USC used such a similar defense all night. Both lived in 2 deep on almost any obvious pass play, and ND was in 3-3-5 in RPO, possible pass plays. And just gave away the farm against the short run and dink and dunk throw game. I could see Michigan taking huge advantage of that in two weeks. And man, I. Book is just not a QB at this level. On most other top 15 teams he would be 2nd string at best. There isn't much he does that I like. About the only positives of him is that he doesn't turn it over much, and he knows there are times to tuck and run for 3 to 5 yards vs pushing a ball downfield into a 50-50 situation.
I still think that Slovis has a better ceiling than Daniels. Will be very interesting to see who goes to the transfer portal after this year. Because USC won't be able to hold onto all 3 that they have this year. And unfortunately I think Helton is doing "just good enough" to possibly save him for another year while the new administration is put into place and a legit HC hunt happens. But I wouldn't be surprised to see him at USC next year. I know he isn't a fan favorite for many of the die hards. But as a ND fan I hope he is coach for life.
