I will get right to the point…..

This movie sucks. Couldn’t even make it through the entire thing, didn’t want to ruin my memory of the original movie.

They made Capt Willard out to be some fun loving practical joker, not the dark, internally torn assassin with a one track mind.

Didn’t want to see what the did with Colonel Kurtz.

Anyhow, if you enjoyed the original, then don’t waste your time on this abomination.

I don't know about you guys & girl, but I want more of OP's movie reviews...maybe even one where he gives positive fishes which I assume are Rainbow Trout.

Some Movie Ideas for His/Her Review:

1. Dune
2. Rudy
3. Star Wars
4. Jaws

Didn't even know this was a thing. For sure won't waste my time on it now. Gracias.

For some reason, they decided to make a new version by adding a few scenes that had been left on the cutting room floor during the original editing.

Changed the whole vibe of the movie.

They even managed to screw up the surfing scene.

I saw a really bad directors cut a few years back...not sure if it was the same thing.

It was really bad. Had the girls performing at the SO crashed in the jungle and inexplicably turning tricks.

Honestly, the original was a good movie, for what it was, but was pretty far out there on the actual Vietnam stuff to begin with...and the extended version I watched just added an hour's worth of garbage that didn't help the story along and in many cases, ruined other scenes.

Yep, the scene with the girls up the river was in there. That’s where I turned it off. Just too stupid.

I started getting a little worried when Capt Willard stole a surfboard and was goofing around with the crew of the River boat.

I saw that on NF, but did not click. Thanks for the warning.

Awesome read on the making:

You so horny? EDIT: That was Full Metal Jacket

Platoon was good too.

Those were all good, as were We Were Soldiers Once, And Young, and even Platoon Leader with Michael Dudikoff.

Hamburger Hill takes the cake, in my opinion (and I never served in Vietnam) because the combat and command situations seemed authentic, but beyond that, it really seemed to introduce and develop enough characters to get the feel and cameraderie of a deployment. The scenes and disagreements and interactions between the soldiers, arguing over what to play on the radio, the guy getting his Dear John letter, all the small things, it just felt very viscerally authentic in a way that few war movies have ever been.
