Can anyone explain to me this craziness of finding a name for a child that is different from every other name on the planet? Why are we complicating shit so much to make children feel like they are the most special thing that was ever born? It has created an uber selfish generational change in society as we know it. I've been saying for years, "It's their world, I'm just in the fucking way."

I just posted in a thread over on the CFB Home board about Lebbeus Overton. His brother is named Micaiah. Do me a favor and tell me how to pronounce both of those names. What's wrong with having a normal fucking name? "Bob" might be the most normal name in history, or John could be, but why the crazy names? I'll give you a thousand dollars to name your daughter Karen. That's my sister's name and she's not even offended.
 
I had a friend in HS that's uncle was named Pete Moss.
I had an acquaintance in HS whose name was Bud Wise.
I saw an obituary once for a 16 year old girl named Marijuana Jackson.
Im sure there are many out there named Richard Head.

My name is Robert.

It is my fathers name, and was the name of my grandfather (Trey means “third”), a great man, of the greatest generation, before him. Were I having a son, it would be his birthright.

I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment.

One question. How/why is Bob short for Robert? I know that it is but wonder how it came about?
