On Wednesday morning, the NCAA announced that its Board of Governors — the association’s highest governing body — expressed support for rule changes that would allow college athletes to be compensated for their name, image and likeness.

The Board of Governors met on the issue this week and agreed that athletes should be allowed to receive compensation for third-party endorsements “both related and separate from athletics.” Additionally, athletes would be permitted to receive payment for other opportunities “such as social media, businesses they have started and personal appearances.”

Serious note/Hot take:
This should have been a 'no-brainer' a long time ago.
The money the universities make from these kids is a
little absurd. These kids put their bodies and health on
the line every time they line up to play. Yes, they know it,
and they're getting a 'free education' (ha-ha), but should
they not be able to make any money while in college? They
handcuff these kids from jump street and ride them to the
bank. Fug the NCAA... this is a W!

The open dirty secret is they can pull the kid's scholarship at anytime if they didn't meet their expectation. It's basically renewable every semester.

I haven't read all the rules yet, so this is just a question.

Example: When Todd Gurley played for UGA, the school made a fortune off of #3 jerseys. Gurley's name wasn't on it, but we all know he was the reason that #3 sold so much.

Can the school now put a name on the back of the jersey, charge a more premium price, and share the profit with the player?

Recruiting will be interesting, a recruit takes a picture wearing a school jersey, and then takes another picture with a different school jersey, then another school, etc. etc.

He/She posts these dozens or more pictures on ebay for say $20 each, buy it now, with amount sold showing.

Top five sellers get another picture made, with a message "Should I sign with "insert team"?"

These get put on Ebay. The highest bidder gets the letter of intent. Not only do you get five different bid winnings, you get the typical fan involved at $20 a pop. Lots of money to be made before the first snap of the football in college.

That's amazing!

I'm calling all my DAWGS to start looking at E-bay NOW!

This will not end well.
The ones who make the money will be golden. The ones that won't will be mad. SJW's will fight to make everyone a winner. Everyone should get equal pay.
Just wait and see.
