Part of that problem is that conservatives love of liberty, individualism and Jeffersonian ideals in general are surpassed by the Left's hatred of them.
And in a way, that makes sense - as the Right does not behave in a "block", we behave independently - while the Left behaves nearly exclusively as a block. To win this, we need to overcome our differences on the Right just long enough to defeat our common enemy.
