Oregon RB CJ Verdell Will Miss Rest of Season with Leg Injury, Per HC Mario Cristobal | Bleacher Report | Latest News, Videos and Highlights

No. 8 Oregon suffered a disappointing loss Saturday against unranked Stanford, but the Ducks lost more than just the game.

Leading running back CJ Verdell was carted off with an injury in the third quarter against the Cardinal, and after Thursday's practice, Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal told reporters Verdell is out for the remainder of the season.

And 3 of the top 4 inside LBs are done of the year, including 5 star Justin Flowe. Injuries are starting to pile up. It's probably too much considering how limited Oregon is in the passing game.
We’re down our top two DL, injuries suck and will always happen but you guys are an outlier here. Really sucks and sorry it’s happening.

It happens, if Oregon had a stronger passing game, they would likely be able to get away with it. Without that, I don't think they have the same margin of error they would have had. If they can manage the rest of the year well, I think they could still end up winning the North. ASU looks like the best team in the PAC 12 at the moment though. And I don't really think it's close.

Thanks but don’t get too excited as ASU typically withers under serious admiration and praise, it’s what we do.

Cristobal understands recruiting. He's got some damn good ones on his staff. Getting there can't happen overnight. I can't speak for Bama but I can tell you that as of now, UGA's top 4 WRs are either questionable every week or out. 2 offensive linemen (1 starter) out for the season. Starting QB is questionable every week until he isn't. The leading ball catcher on the team is a true freshman tight end. 2 DBs have nagging injuries that make them questionable after UGA lost 7.....yes 7 DBs to the NFL or the portal last year.

Yet there UGA is....still loaded and scoring an average of 40 points a game while only giving up less than 5. Recruiting creates depth. Depth fixes injury problems. Cristobal will get there. I truly believe that. Dude it sucks when you got a ton of injuries, but hang in there.

Granted, depth helps. But a coupla years ago BAMA had the injury bug hit so hard it went thru the depth. Esp at linebacker.

With a strong enough team overall, you can overcome injuries. Oregon just isn't strong enough in the passing game right now to do that. Margin for error is a lot smaller than it would be if they were hitting more plays in the passing game.

I don't want to make a long thread about Oregon's injuries but it's not just most of their linebackers and their starting RB. They've got a slew of injuries, including some of their best guys on both sides of the ball. But at the end of the day, nobody is going to feel sorry for us. Oregon needs to find a way to hit more plays in the passing game. If they can do that, they can win the PAC even with the injuries.

Injuries sux. Unfortunately, are part of the Game.
Unlike one poster in this thread, Bama has injuries every season. Lost our best LB early on. The 2's and 3's have to step up, when their number gets called.
Injuries or not, the Duckies are still a good Team.

Its important for 2/3s to step up when injuries happen. Unfortunately, for Oregon, a lot of those 2s and 3s are hurt as well. Theyve had to have guys switch positions because the entire 3 deeps have been wiped out at times
