Pick the National Champion...

Interesting quote from Kirby. I ain't gonna lie......it moved.

"I’ve been on national championship teams that won it all that I was concerned about complacency because there were a lot of players back. We don’t really have that problem.”

I ain't saying UGA will pull off a repeat. That's rare, and hard as hell to do. Now you go into a new season after putting 15 players in the draft? Bama fans warn us UGA fans about what it's like to become the hunted. I get that. Nobody understands it better than Bama, except maybe Kirby since he was in Tuscaloosa for a long damn time.

Looks like Kirby is beginning to understand how to operate the driver's seat. The roster is still full of blue chip players, many of them will be getting their first taste of being a starter. He may not be saying it the way Saban says it, but he for damn sure learned how to talk to his team.
Seriously, the SEC should be concerned about UGA. I know 'Bama has been the boss lately, but Georgia is starting to win some of the recruiting battles with Saben (he is from WV, so I still root for his team). Like most SEC teams, UGA has a very passionate fanbase and I think they could be the next kings of the SEC.

Oh and here is today's images brought to you by the letters U, G, and A.

Meh... I am not sold on the "UGA is the next 'Bama" routine. They started saying the same thing about Clemtech and it looks like they are now starting a downward movement after losing Venables, and other assistants. Also, do not get me wrong, I am not saying UGA or Clem are going to disappear. UGA has always recruited well and been a team that wins 9,10 games a year which is not shabby by any measure. but in these last couple years they seem to finally managed to get to the CFP and, of course, last season won.

A team that has good recruiting, and a good coaching staff should be expected to do that every so often. Hell, UGA could go back to the CFP and win and I will still not be convinced they are the next dynasty... You do not get automatically vaulted to being the best in college football because you have a few years where you dominate ( which UGA seems to be just starting IF they continue on this streak ), as ClemSon is going to demonstrate. As a Gamecock I respect what Dabo has been able to do with Clem, and I cant say I was even surprised as they are very much like UGA in their success. They recruit well, Coaching staff has been excellent, and the head coach is a Saban disciple that before their Championship run they were a 9-10 win team that mostly dominated their conference/division.

I think part of the problem for UGA will be that Tennessee finally got a good coach and looks like they will stop shooting themselves in the foot, and Kentucky has proven themselves as a contender with Stoops and company, My Gamecocks are on the rebound, and if that continues, we will continue to be a pain in UGA's ass as we do occasionally even when we suck. If UGA continues to get into the CFP over the next 5 years and win a couple more natty's then it will be time to talk about if they are the next dynasty, but imo, until that happens then they are just another good UGA team that the stars lined up for... My prediction for this upcoming season will be that they will win several games simply due to their depth and playing the long game while against good opponents and somewhere in their schedule is a trap game or two that will break their hearts and it will be the same old song and dance.

And of course, 'Bama is still 'Bama... they have been Champin on another level for a long time now and until Saban announces his retirement I do not see that changing.

Eventually Saban will die and take his rightful place next to Satan.

I had to explain to my wife how this didn't start as a cheerleading thread lol.
Take a bunch of mostly middle aged ( I’m being kind about the “middle age” 😂), men, with the sense of humor of a 13 yo adolescent kid, let them post anonymously and what the hell did you expect? 😂 All kidding aside, we’re glad your here! This is a great bunch of guys with a tremendous amount of collective college football knowledge!

That could still means he retires in 3 years. He is like Joe Pa, I honestly feel that if he ever did retire, he would die from boredom.

Having said that, today's group is brought to you from Bama (since it is dominating the discussion).

Bear died 9 months after his retirement. I do not wish this for Saban. He has an amazing family that deserves his time more than Bama fans.
