Players sitting out bowl games...

I have changed my opinion.

Originally I was completely against the practice. I felt it was selfish. I also felt is disloyal the teammates and school that helped the player along the way.

Today I don’t have an issue. I cannot hold it against someone for taking a payday that will provide security for the family for a generation. I would do the same thing.

For me, the risk of injury and losing that opportunity is not worth a bowl trophy.
This is where I come out on it too.

Plus, coaches do it all the time- they get a better gig and they are gone.

No issues with it. Though I think some guys could benefit from the extra game on tape. But if you’re a sure shot first rounder, I don’t begrudge you for protecting your asset.

We have 3-4 guys not playing this year including about 75% of our offensive production and that selfishly scares me for our bowl game, but I’m slowly coming around to accepting this. However, if you choose to sit out because of some draft projection you get from wherever, any and all results of sitting out are 100% on you, good or bad.

I don't think you can make a blanket judgement it's case by case thing. If you're a top 10 pick its very understandable but if you're a 3rd round pick why are you sitting out. Also the importance of the bowl factors in to how I would feel about it don't sit out of the cotton bowl but if you don't want to get hurt in the Taxslayer bowl fine.

Hey, how do you personally like how Coach Scott's coaching staff is being filled out?

I have really liked his hires so far he is bringing in a lot of young and fun up and coming coaches (aside from Glenn Spencer at DC that will provide some experience) that will give this team a lot of energy. If I could describe Strong's tenure in one would it would be APATHY so this is a welcome change of pace here donors and alum are excited which is always good.

I can understand the reasoning behind a decision to sit a Bowl Game out but, if you are a member of your team then conduct yourself as such. By ducking a Bowl Game you are betting against yourself and not playing the percentages in regards to getting hurt. Would these guy's duck a combat mission if they were military because they're afraid of being shot?
