There actually used to be a MoS for railroading in the Army. They recently cut it. There are times that a civilian crew would have to have a military crew on board with them for sensitive freight. Like certain types of nuclear.Doable because he was able to get military guys in there to substitute on a temporary basis...
Back after WW2. The Railroad was going to strike. And it was either Truman or Ike but they were going to nationalize the railroads and basically conscript every worker to keep the strike from happening
